Terrible place to stay. No air conditioning, they give you a fan. The windows are so dirty from bugs and cob webs you can't see the outside. Either wine or blood stains on the wall near the bed. Dirty tub. There must have been a large mouse or rat in the ceiling as we heard something chewing and running around most of the night. Missing shutters on the outside. They must be in such dire straits they can't afford to fix anything, Badly needed maintenance! All this for $200 per night!!!!!!!!!!

I really wanted to give a higher rating, the location is convenient and the view is great. The hotel, while dated, was clean enough and provided a bed for us to sleep in with a functional TV. We did not have a parking spot our first night, but there was a party and just about everyone cleared out by evening and everything that way was ok. The problem I have is with the payment. I was billed back in March despite being told on ******* I would be billed at check in. I was billed again in July after my stay was complete. The initial “authorization charge” has not been refunded despite two employees saying otherwise and it has been almost a month. I have sent an email to the hotel hopefully to remedy this, and they advised I file a dispute with my bank. They said “duplicate charges may happen because we have a payment network that we don’t have contact with anymore”. I have been wrangling with the bank for over a month to get that money back. Save your hard earned funds, stay somewhere else! Out almost $700 still today as of 9/5 for what should have been a nice and relaxing birthday trip! On 9/4, Shoreline Inn charged an additional $88.43 to my card with no explanation or notice. Do not stay here. If you must, use a credit card and be ready for a fight to get funds back if they double charge you for your stay like they did me. Absolutely deplorable and shady operation. Complaint filed with the FTC and BBB.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving before 3PM to a welcoming receptionist who processed my payment while I filled out a liability paper, then presented a car parking permit and the electronic key. Upper superior room #211 had worn carpet, was clean with a comfortable king, table & 2 chairs and a closet with a small refrigerator. The fully outfitted bathroom had a tub/shower. The small TV had the Fire satellite guide where I selected ‘LiveTV’ for BBC, CNBC, CNN, Duluth ABC, ESPN. Good secure wifi, 2 outlets, good lighting and baseboard heat. A microwave and hot coffees were always available in the lobby. The 7AM breakfast was average with OJ, packets of applesauce/oatmeal/sweet cereals, bagels/waffles/bread to toast, and coffee. We had a great lake view through the uninsulated steel side windows but the center glass was permenantly foggy. Overall, we had a quiet night’s sleep and enjoyed our stay.

Checked in and paid with our credit cards and fortunately I have a alert on my card and instead of it being 185 complete they charge me $267. Had to get the manager in etc etc they gave me a $40 credit and I told her that wasn't good enough and sent them my confirmation things that I had and unfortunately we couldn't stick around in bicker as we were on motorcycles and a time constraint. I would not stay here, many things were unsafe they have a patio out by the lake and the railings were ready to fall off, most of the chairs out on the decking were broken.

The hotel needs a massive upgrade. No A/C, no additional bedding in the rooms, specifically no additional pillows. A rug on top of the carpet appears to be hiding a stain. The bathtub did not drain. Disappointing!!! We will not be staying here again... especially for $170 a night...

Lovely location right on the water! But it's very tired and dingy; needs some updates and freshening up. We've stayed here twice before in years prior, and it wasn't in this state of disrepair. Toilet was black, peeling wallpaper, broken shutters, broken safety door latch. Room and linens appeared clean; courteous front desk staff. Sadly, we'll probably not return.

Good grief. I don’t know where to start. It seems we had the same room as another reviewer. Could not see the beautiful view because the picture window was clouded over between the glass panes. The Carpet looked like it came out of a truck stop bathroom. Horrible smell in the room. We asked for another room, the young woman at the desk was very nice and we moved a couple doors down. This room was about the same but at least we could see out the window. We would have tried another place but we’re just too tired after driving all day and weren’t up to all the hassles. My impression is that the owners are squeezing the most profit they can out of this dying old mess of a place before it’s shoved down.

We went up for our Anniversary and were wowed by the view from the room (Last one, first floor, lakeside). Very clean, strong water pressure in shower/tub. Very quiet; unable to hear the bathroom fan in the bedroom area if the door was closed. Big plus for me! Enjoyed the available Keurig coffeemaker, although we brought our own pods, because we are coffee snobs. Most places were closed, because, winter/Monday. Would stay here again. The owners are very accommodating, and live onsite. There is a firepit, but looks like it's only used in warmer weather.

The lakeside room had an amazing view. We spent hours just looking at it. The hotel was super quiet. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Overall, it was a great stay and well above expectations.
