The Best Western Plus Superior Inn truly is "superior." You can tell the staff and owners care — doing more than they have to do. Good-sized, exceptionally clean room (we had a nice view of the lake with a balcony). Shower stall instead of the usual curtain-in-a-tub with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. They also take the time to make their complimentary breakfast better than you'll find at other breakfast-included hotels. Rather than serving up the usual scrambled eggs of questionable origin, they provided "cheesy scrambled eggs" which were casserole-like, browned and delicious. They offered potatoes, which is not typical for Best Westerns, and an Andouille sausage that is far superior to what you normally get at free breakfasts. The dining area/lobby has a warm lodge feel that is perfect for this area and far better than what you might expect. The hotel also offers a bar and limited hot food menu in the lobby during evening hours with offerings from a local ice creamery (very good!). Warm, welcoming team at the desk and at breakfast. Recommended highly.

We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed this hotel. The beds are comfortable, the view is beautiful, the staff is excellent, the breakfast and coffee are delicious. It's walking distance to the little downtown and the harbor walk. The hot tub is spacious and the fitness room is adequate for traveling workouts. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Our first visit to Grand Marais as family now lives here. We are Best Western Plus customers and have been in dozens of BW locations. This BW Superior physical location is very nice, the staff and amenities are great and it is close to the shops and restaurants. They have a large whirlpool and a compact workout room. We enjoyed all these features although the weekend parking fills up fast. Be prepared to walk across a muddy parking lot. My biggest beef is with the Wifi and the owner.. Wifi should be a pleasant and seamless guest experience. On Thursday I could not maintain a connection for my Apple Mac. Kept dropping mid session. My iPhone hotspot worked fine. The desk person tried to get me to call their Tech Support? As a guest this is ridiculous. Not a seamless experience. They reset their system and it worked fine on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday it started dropping again. I called the desk and told them about the dropping and Thursday. The desk person Scott who said he is the owner told me that have known issues with Apple devices and it's an Apple issue. He wanted me to call their Tech Support. Apple devices are 15-20% of the market. I have never had Apple WifI issues with another BW. Scott kept rudely interrupting me and arguing that it was an Apple issue. Bologna. It is their system. I will not stay here again because of the WiFi drops and Scott's attitude. He ruined the BW Superior experience for us.

Treated ourselves to one of the suites and wow, what an experience! Beautiful balcony view of Lake Superior and beach area, the pillowtop mattress was so comfortable and slept so soundly! The steam shower and rainfall showerhead were outstanding and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. In floor hot water heat was also a treat on a chilly night. Walking distance to town and the many interesting shops and dining options. Would definitely return!

Stayed in GM just for a night while in the area to go skating at Gun Flint Lake. From the moment we arrived I was impressed. Check in, to departure. Rooms were spacious, very clean, comfortable beds and all rooms overlook beautiful Lake Superior with a balcony. Large glass enclosed showers. Breakfast was impressive, as most hotels you get the same old stuff. They had lovely baked egg dish with tomatoes and garlic, magic pancake maker, lovely scones and muffins along with all of the usual. They open a wee bar from 5-9 so we enjoyed some wine. The hot tub was fabulous. Very large with a waterfall. Overall it was a fantastic stay. I only found out on checking out that it is family run. My applause to you all. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in lovely Grand Marais.

The Best Western Plus Superior Inn is basically the only-game-in-town in Grand Marais when it comes to brand name lodging. The next closest city with brand name hotels is Duluth, which is 90+ minutes away. And perhaps for that reason, the rate here is $200+ per night. If there were a more crowded hotel market in town, then this hotel would probably be $150 per night at the most. Having said that, the hotel itself is fine. Clean, comfortable and quiet. I will say that breakfast could have been more impressive considering the rate. I've stayed at a number of hotels with lower rates that had more impressive breakfast options than this.

This is a wonderful hotel. Beds and pillows are comfortable, the view is wonderful. Parking is a bit of an issue at times, but there is extra parking across the street. I'm not a big fan of the citrus soap and shampoos they offer...I prefer products without scent, but that is not a big issue. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the price. It is getting so expensive, it is becoming cost prohibitive to stay there.
