Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cold Lake

This is supposed to be a hoilday. and I can say the Hoilday Inn in cold lake Alberta is the worst hotel stay we have ever had! When we finally got to cold lake we checked in and were told by the desk worker that after 11 at night we were not aloud in the front doors and had to use the side doors "for staff safety my mom did not agree with that for where is the customers safety? there was no security at the side doors that lead into stair wells. My mom was told that if she didn't like it not to leave after 11. my mom was not happy about that but left it alone. this morning my mom wrote a complaint to the Hoilday Inn head office about the door policy. My mom Went to the Front desk and asked for management because she wanted to inform them that a complaint had been put in. the man at the front desk from last night informed my mom that he was the manager. my mom inform him that a complaint had been made and he got super upset amd started to be verbally abuse and aggressive towards my mom. My mom walked away. Thru out the day we came and went at the hotel thinking everything was to be left alone. at around 3 this afternoon my mom, dad and aunt stopped at the complimentary coffee bar in the lobby to get a cup of coffee when the man from the desk came up to them with a lady. The lady said she's was the assistant manager. she started talking to my mom about the complaint but everything she said was wrong and when my mom tryed to correct her and say she was not there to fight. the male manager started to get very loud and walking towards my mom in a aggressive manner, which resalted in them being cornered at the coffee bar. my dad was waiting at the elevator saw what happend stepped in and told him not to talk to his wife like that. the lady then yelled at my dad not to yell at the manager. My dad looked at her and told her I'm not yelling but he is. the hotel then called the cops and kick us out of the hotel. (after the cop arrived the cop told us that the assistant manager is actually. the owner.)we had booked the hotel back in April for this trip. they waited till after 3 to kick us out so they won't have to give us the refund for tonight and we might get a refund for tomorrow. we had to go find a new hotel at a high price because we were kick out because my mom did not agree with a un-safe door policy. how is that fair.

I've had 40 hotels across the country this year and this hotel had the most friendly staff and the best breakfast bacon by far! Comfortable room, bed and sheets as well. Even good coffee. The other thing I appreciated was it's close proximity to restaurants like Original Joe's, but also "off the main *****" for a safer parking lot. I happened to have a lot of shopping and even a piece of brand new furniture in the truck box that wouldn't fit in the cab and nothing went missing. In Cold Lake, my new go to is Holiday Inn.

The pool was full of employees swimming, breakfast if terrible, no drinking water available.
