Kn Hotel Arenas del Mar Adults Only

We stayed at this hotel for our Honeymoon. It’s a real weigh up of pros and cons- ignore the other reviews saying to go somewhere else. Would we book a different hotel for our honeymoon if we could go back in time? Absolutely. But if we were just getting away for a week as a couple wanting sunshine, pool, good weather and all inclusive food/ drinks this was a good find. We’ll start with the pros- we got upgraded to a sea view room on arrival and the balcony was beautiful. Our room was tidy on arrival, we had a bottle of sparkling wine brought up to our room to celebrate our honeymoon with a note from the staff congratulating us on our wedding. The bed was a proper big king size bed not two little ones pushed together- comfy but very very firm and we looked forward to sleeping in our own bed once home towards the end of our 10 night stay. The pool is lovely and warm however salt water not chlorine which threw us. The spa was a nice Sunday morning activity- €15pp for 2 hours use and lots of treatments available for additional costs. The food options were great, lots of meat/ fish/ veggie options but nothing if you’re GF/DF etc. The entertainment duo do a very good job of keeping the energy up and encouraging people to join in- we did Aqua Aerobics, Darts, Archery, Bowls, Bingo and Karaoke most days with prizes to be won. We walked into the town a couple of times- it’s about 15 minute walk along the beach. Some little tourist shops, little cafes, restaurants and bars but nothing major- if you’re looking for a night out do not bother coming here. The hotel do offer bus shuttles to popular spots for €15pp however they are drop off in the morning and pick up in the evening so plan your day accordingly. The staff are all lovely and go above and beyond to help. The restaurant attached to the hotel was a lovely meal out and you get 20% off your bill for being hotel guests. The cons- The food options were great however the food was pretty much always cold as there’s so much produced on a large scale- to be half expected as the food is served over a few hours. A big one to note is the wind!!! We had read the reviews prior to coming but underestimated this- there were a few days we were told umbrellas were not allowed up as they had gone flying into the pool. Drinks blew over, towels gone, the lot- top tip is to pack lots of those towel clips at least 4 per person and bring a swim coverup or big T-shirt as by midday the whole pool area is blazing sunshine with no shade/umbrellas. Although the entertainment team did the best they could with what they had- the entertainment is really very very basic and very repetitive. The hotel guests are the ones creating the entertainment. Bring a light jacket or shawl for the evening as the bar balcony is all shade and bloody freezing in the wind! El Médano although close to lots of tourist spots on a map was very very tricky to leave as a taxi starts around €40 one way for a 15/20 minute journey. Hire cars are avail

The hotel was lovely and rooms are cleaned to a good standard. The quality of food is excellent for self service all inclusive although after a few days it can become slightly repetitive, ( but such is all inclusive.) Good choice of drinks at the bar, and all hotel staff are lovely and very attentive. Pool area is nice and quiet as it is adults only and plenty of loungers are available. However, it is extremely windy to the point where sunbathing becomes uncomfortable, even when we were there in July so for that reason I wouldn't return to El Medano. If you could transport this hotel to another location in Tenerife it would be excellent.

Stayed for 10 days and overall had a good experience. Most of the staff were polite and helpful, however, I found one staff member quite rude. Of particular note was Maria behind the bar, who was amazing. Always had a smile on her face and quickly dealt with queues, even when working alone. Very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious with a separate lounge area, however, the housekeeping is shocking. We did not have our bed sheets changed once in 10 days, the shower was never cleaned and I ended up cleaning it myself, the towels were hit and miss and were changed twice in 10 days. Even thought the floor towel was soaking, it was just folded up and placed on the shower. We stared with 5 towels and ended up with 3 (no hand towels). The food was appetising, however, everything was luke warm. They had a variety of sauced which were really tasty, however, not so much when they are cold. Entertainment is the same every day and the evening entertainment is karaoke, music or bingo, however, the enteraintment team (2 people) work hard trying to get everyone involved and are very friendly. It is very windy at the side of the hotel so make sure you take pegs for your towels. Pool towls could only be changed every 2 days between 10am - 12 noon. One thing to mention is that on the last day, we were not being picked up until 4pm and the hotel provide a room for you to shower and change and also provide fresh towels, which was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but there is definitely room for improvement.

No loyalty to returning guests. Very disappointed. Regretfully won’t be returning. This was my fifth time in this Hotel. I’m a solo traveler. The staff remember me from previous visits. I asked for a high floor, as I know there are better balconies. The receptionist told me on check in to speak to the manager on Monday. I arrived on Saturday. I did not get into any altercation with him, as I had had one before. I had gotten locked out of my room and he argued with me for over an hour that I had a different room. It was only when a duty manager arrived and escorted me to my room and I produced my passport that they believed me. On this occasion I was given a room on the third floor. And when I asked this manager, on Monday as instructed I was told to come to reception on Tuesday. I had to wait several hours to move rooms. And I can honestly say after paying 1,800 pounds for one week, I should have been treated better. The manager was aware I was to come back in December. However I had to sign a disclaimer before I could move rooms. I can spend 1800 on a hotel who is glad to have returning guest. This was not a great experience. Also the food let it down. The majority of the staff are lovely. The mould and grouting needs attention. But the lack of customer service regarding a guests request. Especially one who comes to the hotel every six months was to me, unbelievable. I am still upset about this and it ruined what usually is a great stay. The manager offered me her email for December, to ensure a higher room. But I told her it was fine, I wouldn’t be returning. I’m shocked at how I was treated. The gentleman man in the lift who had checked in just before me was delighted as he had just got a free upgrade. Salt into wounds… also the room 514 was the smallest one I have ever stayed in. Not a way to treat returning guests.

Overall, we really liked this hotel. The staff were all friendly and the rooms were nice. We luckily got upgraded to a one bedroom suite and this was great, with a lovely sea view. The food was nice and everything you would want from an all inclusive. The desserts were a stand out! The communal areas were well maintained and they always seemed to be cleaning too. The entertainment was basic but fine, it would have been nice to have a bit more variety. We never had to fight for a sunbed and we genuinely had a very nice stay. Would recommend and revisit again.
