We really liked the stay, the service and the facilities. The hotel ensemble consists of 2 country houses and 1 lake house, which is located directly on the beautiful Badersee. We had a room in the country house with a view of the Zugspitze. The breakfast had a nice selection of various spreads, cheese, eggs, muesli and pastries. A rotating selection would have been nice, but still perfectly adequate. Dinner is served as a buffet by the restaurant "Werdenfels" and we liked it very much. Around the hotel there are many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, boat tours (in summer), taking the cable car to the Zugspitze and skiing there. With a hotel ticket you can travel to the Eibsee or to the neighboring towns of Garmisch-Partenkirchen for free. There is an internal wellness area with the possibility of massages. I had the quick relaxation massage and was deeply relaxed afterwards! The staff was very attentive and accommodating. We can only recommend the hotel and would come again.

Hotel Ambadersee Date of stay 18th September 2024. Our initial welcome was very good, however, when we later went to the reception area with some questions we were told we had to leave the area immediately and could not return for one hour due to filming. We did not have our questions answered. We seemed to not have access to the bar area or reception. We did not feel welcome. This is a very poor way to treat guests that have paid quite a lot of money to stay and use hotel facilities at a premium hotel. The hotel needs to make a choice between being used as a filming location (which excludes guests) or to have paying guests which are allowed access to all the facilities. This was my second visit to the hotel. This time I wanted to show my wife, as a treat, how lovely it was. However, we were both very disappointed. I have contacted the hotel but they failed to respond. It is unlikely I will return.

Ein ganz wundervolles Hotel mit sehr freundlichen Mitarbeitern und allem, was man sich für eine schöne Auszeit wünscht. Wir haben uns wie zuhause gefühlt. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Die Bedienung in der Bar am Abend sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Massage Anwendung war hervorragend. Die Umgebung am Hotel ist einfach fantastisch, Zimmer mit Blick zur Zugspitze und der See ist wunderschön. Wir waren begeistert und kommen eines Tages wieder.

Ein sehr gut gelegenes Kleinod ist das Hotel am Badersee, da es kurz vor dem Königsee, etwas versteckt, mitten in der Garmischer Bergwelt, nahe Grainau (Zugspitzbahnhof) liegt. Das Hotel ist vor wenigen Jahren völlig neu aufgebaut und sehr exklusiv. Das Personal ist nett und sehr zuvorkommend. Besonders schön ist es im Panorama Restaurant auf den Watzmann zu blicken- z. B. beim sehr reichhaltigen Frühstück. Wir hatten ein Wochenangebot gebucht.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at this excellent hotel. Grainau is a perfect village for exploring the area. The hotel is a 10 minute walk on a marked path through the wood to the lovely village with good restaurants. Our room was very comfortable, clean and quiet with a lovely view from the balcony over the little lake. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was outstanding, with a generous spread of traditional German meats, cheese and breads along with cooked items. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, but found the buffet on our first evening not worth repeating.

Overall quite disappointed by this establishment whose services are quite average. The positive points: The green and relaxing setting The gym and the spa The negative points: Impersonal welcome Very poor quality breakfast, not at the level of a 4 star No swimming pool (but quite a public swimming pool quite far from the hotel)

We stopped in the main hotel, they do have apartments. The room was clean, with enough room. Water was supplied (sparkling and still)). The views from our balcony were fantastic, our room look out from the front of the hotel. We really liked the food, you mostly helped yourself and like our room the views were fantastic. If you plan to visit the Zugspitze, get your ticket on the day from them, the same price as the official website but you can be more sure of the weather. We got trapped for a couple of hours on the top by thunderstorms (the cable cars stop). Having got your ticket a lovely 10-15min walk to the cog rail station to Zugspitze. Your choice how you go up, as we were on the train we took it to the top and then cable car down. During busy periods we would recommend you take the cable car up and if you want the cog train down.
