African Safari Lodge

This is a wonderful resort! On my first trip to South Africa, I was made to feel like I was at home, but just much more magical! For the first part of our stay, we were at the Ranch House (my family and a friend rented the whole house), and it was awesome. When we first got there, we looked out off the back patio, and saw about 8 giraffes just hanging out in a meadow a short walk away! We did plenty of fun activities, always led by Mike - game drive, boat tour, and bass fishing. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable, and reminds one of Crocodile Dundee, or something - he can do everything. Then we had all of our meals prepared by Fay, and it was, again, like home, but better! It was so good that I had her send me some recipes after our stay! For our last night, my husband and our friend left for business, and my 14 year old son and I went over to the Lodge. Where the Ranch House was homey, the Lodge is pretty dreamy! The food was amazing there as well, and the staff were uniformly friendly and pleasant. And the views!! I pretty much didn't want to leave the porch overlooking the river until the sun went down. We had all our meals just looking out at that view. The beds were comfortable and warm in both places (heated mattress pads), and it was just overall one of the best vacations I've had a long time! I'd go back in heartbeat, and I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!

This is constructive critisism. We booked the one room for a disabled person. It would be nice if you can add handles at the toilet and in the shower as well as a shower seat...

We spent the most amazing weekend at Africa Safari Lodge. We were down to attend the Independant Prep Schools Rugby Festival which was held at St. Andrews. The lodge was perfectly situated for our need. Unfortunately we were so busy with the rugby, we would have loved to have spent more time exploring the beautiful reserve.

We experienced a wonderful overnight stay. The staff and management were excellent. Clean and comfortable rooms. So peaceful in nature.

We were extremely blessed to have won a competition that entailed a two-night stay at African Safari Lodge at the end of April. Firstly, I want to highlight the passion, excitement, and professionalism of the Lodge Manager, Dean. Dean, you do make the experience so much more exciting and we really enjoyed having you host us. When we arrived, we were met by Gift, the chef. His friendliness and welcoming was awesome, but does not compare to his skills in the kitchen. The food is excellent and the portions are very generous. Thank you for feeding us, Gift. We enjoyed a sunset cruise with a game drive, and that was the highlight of our first day. My son and I also had a great time fishing against the beautiful scenery and got that much needed father-son time in. My wife and I got to spend our time together, enjoying the scenery, nature and good company. If you want to get away from the rush of your normal day and you want to connect with nature, while enjoying good food, good company and be served by an amazing team of people, I can confidently recommend African Safari Lodge.

I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful lodge this weekend, and I can confidently say it's a hidden gem. The location alone is breathtaking, and the team of friendly, knowledgeable staff truly make the experience unforgettable. With working safari boats and vehicles, you can get up close to nature and enjoy the abundant wildlife around you. The lodge has so much potential and, with a little more development, I can see it becoming a 5-star destination. If you're looking for a peaceful, nature-filled getaway with amazing service, this is the place to be!
