Highly recommended Set in a beautiful village this accomodation stands out withbits exterior decor. Parking is a short walk away and not onsite but this isnt gar and not a problem. We were greeted by a wonderful ladybwhonwas full of smiles, verybfriendly and appeared tonreally enjoy her job. She showed us to our room and left us to unpack. The room was big enougb fornthe 2 of us and had a good sized ensuite shower room. The rooms facilities were excellent. Smart tv, wifif and smart heating as well as a kettle and hair dryer. The hotel is small, just 14 rooms and also serves as one of just 2 pubs in the village. The pub itself is large, has pool amd darts as well as space for live entertainment. Multiple tvs line the walls and theres music too. Theres also a verybgood oitside space to the rear as well as a small area to tje front if you prefer to watchblife go by. Theres a great menu with a variety of foods available including a thai menu. Food and drink prices are good and theres ample choice. We had a lovely stay and are already planning to return. I require medical equipment at night and there was no issue with this either. Pricing for the accommodation is also reasonable. Definitely recommend

If you read any of my reviews you'll know that the USB count in a hotel room is a key success factor for me. Not only to charge your phone, but if you are a motorbike rider, you need them to charge up your helment, sat nav, heated jacket, god knows what else. On this single factor, The Lion and The Lamb has reached the pinnacle of success. My room had 6 USB sockets, and eight 3 pin plug outlets! Hands down, in my many years of travel, this is now the Gold standard for all other places to aspire to. My room was modestly sized, but clean and warm. Good well stocked beverage tray, not skimped upon, and refreshed each morning. I was in room 6, which had a velux ceiling window, but not a wall window. I was barely in it, but if you were there for a few days, you might want to ask for a different room. They have had to set up a temporary breakfast arrangement due to a local fire, but actually it worked better for me. Its self service, bread, yoghurt, juice, spreads, fruit and cereal. Tea and Coffee obviously. I ate elsewhere in the evening, but the bar was doing a healthy business when I passed through. Its a lively bar too, if you head to bed early, bring some ear plugs perhaps. Guinness Zero was appreciated.

Gastropub with accommodation. We went here for a late lunch after all other eateries were found to be closed – strange for a village full of them and billed as the hub for tourists to the Western Lakes – Gosforth is always busy, is actually inside the Lake District National Park, and we were there in late summer. Nice décor – “ultra-mod”, with a large bar area and cubicles for privacy open to the pool table in the middle. Usual pub food, with generous portions, but nothing special as regards taste or being appetising. No parking nearby. OK for food if there is nowhere to go! We’ve seen worse.

Cooked breakfast from the newsagents?! Certainly not your cosy-up type pub. Modern characterless pub (in what looked a charming village), filled with people enjoying a rowdy drink and match. Dont get me wrong, the service from the lady was excellent, but there was absolutely no where to escape the noise. The bedroom were recently updated, but had zero sound proofing. The noise from the pub was heard until closing time. However once closed ( and the noise from the cooking extracwas turned off), it was surprisingly quiet. The biggest disappointment ( which would have resulted in a highef score) was the fact the " cooked breakfast " was actually a sandwich from next door 7-11 - ate in the bedroom.
