It looked like a nice place to eat but we were very, very disappointed by the food. The curry was dreadful and had like gravy instead of decent sauce. The girl beside us returned her dessert because there was a great long hair across it. After that we just paid and left.

Local hotel with easy access to mountains/beaches
Lovely warm welcome. Great base to see the sights of Donegal. Close to amazing beaches. View onto the estuary a real bonus.

All the staff were so professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, nothing was a bother to them. Our large bedroom and bathroom were both very clean and warm. (Bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi bath, heaven) Great breakfast, both continental and cooked, really sets you up for the day. We didn"t need to eat until dinnertime. Evening meals were beautiful as well, there was a great choice, we ate the 3 nights we stayed here, each night we both ordered something different from the menu, every dish we had was so tasty, well cooked with local ingredients. all lovely. No complaints at all. This hotel is a great, quiet location for visiting all the spectacular scenic local spots including Glenveagh Park & Castle, Errigal and Muckish mountains, the harbour and the beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Way.

Very disappointing. Rated 3* but more like 2* or B&B. Bar atmosphere not pleasant. Breakfast very poor. Rooms small, bit shabby and old fashioned. Bed had uncomfortable spring mattress. Had to ask staff for working remote for TV. Over-priced. Was more expensive than the lovely 4* hotels we stayed in on our trip.

We stayed for 3 nights as a short break treat. We had dinner in the bar each night and the food was hot freshly cooked and great value. 2 courses for under 25 Euro each.. We had breakfast each morning which was tasty and filling to set us up for the day. Very friendly staff in the bar, restaurant and reception. Our only little thing was the mattress in our room. It was too hard and flat and we would have preferred a soft one. But apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

This hotel is on the Wild Atlantic Way route and a good place to stay the night if you are touring the Wild Atlantic Way. We were there on a three night package that took in Valentine's day and eve. It is also a good place to stay for days out like we did. You have the Wild Atlantic Way and the Glenveagh National Park. All the staff are wonderful when we checked in we were given a first floor room but when we asked where the lift was the receptionist there was not one and when I explained I was disabled she said I see if there is a ground floor free and there was one so she swapped rooms for us. Our room had a king size bed plus a single and plenty of room for us. Like have said we were on a package that included one evening meal which we took the first night. The second night was Valentines night where for only 79 Euros for two we had a four course meal and a bottle of wine. On Saturday night we had a two course meal which worked out a couple of Euros more than the first night if we had to pay for it. The food was excellent if you found any fault with it you should be staying at Buckingham Palace. We would stay at the Ostan Loch Altan again and I would highly recommend it and give it a 4 star rating.
