We stayed for 3 nights as a short break treat. We had dinner in the bar each night and the food was hot freshly cooked and great value. 2 courses for under 25 Euro each.. We had breakfast each morning which was tasty and filling to set us up for the day. Very friendly staff in the bar, restaurant and reception. Our only little thing was the mattress in our room. It was too hard and flat and we would have preferred a soft one. But apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

This hotel is on the Wild Atlantic Way route and a good place to stay the night if you are touring the Wild Atlantic Way. We were there on a three night package that took in Valentine's day and eve. It is also a good place to stay for days out like we did. You have the Wild Atlantic Way and the Glenveagh National Park. All the staff are wonderful when we checked in we were given a first floor room but when we asked where the lift was the receptionist there was not one and when I explained I was disabled she said I see if there is a ground floor free and there was one so she swapped rooms for us. Our room had a king size bed plus a single and plenty of room for us. Like have said we were on a package that included one evening meal which we took the first night. The second night was Valentines night where for only 79 Euros for two we had a four course meal and a bottle of wine. On Saturday night we had a two course meal which worked out a couple of Euros more than the first night if we had to pay for it. The food was excellent if you found any fault with it you should be staying at Buckingham Palace. We would stay at the Ostan Loch Altan again and I would highly recommend it and give it a 4 star rating.

This is going to to be two very different reviews. When I first arrived they had me in a large room that was not very clean and had very dated furniture. After checking in around 1600 I took a quick nap on the incredibly hard bed but I was soon woken up by cupboards slamming and people talking very loudly in the room underneath mine. At first I thought I just had some noisy neighbors but the more I listened the more I realized they had put me in the room right above the kitchen. I called down to the front desk and confirmed that this noise would last until at least 2200 so I requested that they move me to a different room. I was able to move to a smaller room a bit down the hall which was actually very pleasant. The bed was still way too hard for my liking but I was at least able to get a good nights rest away from the earlier din downstairs. I'm giving my ratings above based on the second room, the breakfast provided, and the very helpful staff but I would like to very strongly suggest that the first room I was in be taken out of service for guests moving forward. There is no way anyone would be able to get a restful night of sleep there and putting guests in that room without giving notice of the noise issues diminishes your reputation as an premier hotel.

Ostan Loch Altan was an excellent place to rest on a looping, self-organized road trip through the hinterlands of County Donegal. The roadside inn is comfort, with spacious rooms (though the bed was on the soft side, so you felt a little like you were sinking toward the middle). Luckily, the hotel has its own pub, which serves dinner — Friday night was steak special night — and breakfast room, as the other pub across the street wasn’t serving food midweek in early November. What stood out most, though, was the simple friendliness of the Ostan Loch Altan’s staff, who were uniformly kind and cheerful.
