room was a little jaded (curtains not well arranged, window had a beading missing, and the bathroom was just a little past its prime) and the tea/coffee hidden in a cupboard (why?) and there was only one sachet of hot choc and one pack of biscuits for two occupants - but the bed was huge, and we loved the two bottles of still & sparkling water which met our two preferences! These days a couple of charging points would also be welcome. Chosen for location so can't fault that - and the lovely doorman (the local cat) was an absolute asset to the hotel. Would book again.

Poor service! Staff walking off in between serving us. Staff chatting and laughing with each other instead of serving customers. Service was so slow! Drinks came about 20mins after ordering! Coffee luke warm, no complimentary biscuit like the pier gives you. Won’t be coming back!

Stayed here a few times as we have family in Gorleston. Didn't use bar or restaurant as we had made other plans so can't comment. No problem parking & all staff friendly & efficient. Hotel is comfortable & well presented in good location. Only criticism is our room was very hot (was a hot weekend to be fair) but the fan provided wasn't much use. Air con would greatly improve. Also Freeview TV only had a few channels available. Other than that another nice stay at reasonable price. Would recommend.

We have stayed at the hotel before due to the rooms being excellent and food etc. THe rooms and food were amazing this time as well. The only complaint we had is, we came with my mother who is due to go and have a bone marrow transplant in the next couple of months , we arrived early yes at 12.45pm however due to the rain and my mothers condition we could not walk round the area. I went to reception to tell them we are early but if the rooms come available it would be great and very helpful if we could check in early or at least 1 room. However the receptionist did not even want to listen to my questions and abruptly stated check in is at 3pm. It was a full house last night so nothing we can do. I knew she did not want to entertain this idea as she did not even ask our names or what rooms we had booked to try and see if any had been cleaned or could request a cleaner maybe go in those rooms next. I decided there was no point trying again and said we will sit in one of the sofa rooms and wait. She did then say you can try at 2.30pm. So we sat and waited had some lunch. When 2.30pm arrived, I went to the desk. The same lady looked at me knowing why I had came back but just said, can I help you, I mentioned you said maybe come back at 2.30pm. Then I was abruptly told no rooms are available and all rooms will be ready at 3pm. Again did not ask what rooms and seemed the answer was computer says no! We sat back down then as soon as that receptionist left of shift the other receptionist came straight in at 2.50pm and said our rooms were ready, Please do not tell me the cleaners finish all rooms dead on 3pm, however unfortunately this receptionist did not want to go that extra mile for us or my ill mother. We spent over £650 on rooms and food for 1 night so felt a little disappointed that the receptionist did not want to even try and help us and made that quite clear!. The hotel has amazing rooms and food it was just a shame for the experience we had at check in.

We visited only the café at The Cliff Hotel a week ago and had an extremely disappointing and concerning experience. We ordered two coffees: one cappuccino with almond milk and one regular latte. When the waiter brought them to our table, he seemed unsure which was which and had to consult a colleague before serving us. We immediately noticed that something seemed off — both coffees tasted like they had been switched. This was especially serious because my partner has a severe allergy to dairy. To be sure, I asked again, and even one of the staff members admitted that my coffee looked more like the almond milk cappuccino. However, instead of handling the situation with urgency or caution, the manager reviewed the security camera footage and then returned to tell us that the drinks were prepared correctly and my partner had received the almond milk coffee. Than, just two hours later, my partner has been violently ill, which clearly proves that she was served regular dairy milk — a dangerous mistake. While we did eventually receive a refund, what really frustrated us was the lack of accountability. Mistakes can happen, but denying the error and dismissing our concerns — especially in the context of a serious allergy — is simply unacceptable. This level of carelessness with allergens is not just unprofessional; it’s unsafe. I would strongly advise others with dietary restrictions or allergies to avoid this café.

I have been here a few times before and the lunch/evening menu was much improved. Very good standard. However 1. The service at tables and bar was very slow (I went to the bar to get my drinks when eating). It wasn't particularly busy. 2. I saw, and spoke to, other people leave because of this before eating/drinking 3. I booked a Sea View with Balcony (stayed in 104), which was a big mistake - the balcony was tiny and a bit grubby and, furthermore, it was directly near what I assume was an air conditioning vent - which was exceptionally noisy for long periods (and started up at 6-6.30am every morning). And the roof obviously attracted birds too, so the balcony option was a massive negative. 4. The bathroom in 104 was pretty cramped, too (though I knew the rooms would be like this, to be fair) A poor four-day stay this time in an area we love.
