Madda Hotel

We hastily booked 4 nights at this hotel back in January as we had a family wedding in an adjacent hotel. In hindsight the unrefundable status should have been a warning. However the top rated status it has on trip advisor was, falsely as it turned out, reassuring. Having stayed at 3 other excellent hotels in Turkey( two in Bodrum, see my other reviews)at the same, or lower, prices I can only say I was appalled by the Madda. The "front office" comprised of two grubby chairs and a table where we were informed that coffee with breakfast involved an extra charge and we could choose how we liked our egg to be cooked. The "suite" seemed to be the upper part of the house and comprised two small rooms with short beds, frayed bases, and a single light blanket for a cover. The bathroom was small, dark and basic. The beach deck furnishings are nothing like those pictured in the reviews. There are no white day beds or grass roofs at the Madda, just well used lounge chairs and frayed umbrellas. However, nor was there anyone really using them. As the only person partaking of breakfast I can say the quiet and the view are lovely but cannot compensate for the poor quality of this converted house /"hotel" at the prices charged. Fortunately as part of a large wedding group we were able to cut our losses and move to another hotel with lovely views, spacious rooms, large pools, and a marvelous breakfast spread with unlimited free coffee for less money, and continue to enjoy our stay in beautiful Bodrum which has so much to offer. I have no hopes of reclaiming the money we spent on the Madda but will avoid unrefundable properties in the future and have learned to be careful about what the pictures suggest.
