My family and I visited on a Sunday evening and when we arrived there were only a couple other tables filled. Like most restaurants in the area they were short-staffed so it did take a little time to get our orders in. After we did the restaurant flooded with patrons and the same two staff members were attempting to deal with it all. Our food came out in a timely fashion but it did take a good while for other tables to get their orders in and food out which was understandable given the staffing situation. I was in awe of how much food was coming out of the kitchen. Everything we ordered was delicious and under the circumstances I think they handled the unexpected crowd rather well. There was a couple who was quite disturbed by the wait. But the staff just kept doing the very best they could and I was most impressed. The dining space is comfortable, lots of choices on the menu and the food really was delicious. I had stopped in for lunch a couple of years ago and promised myself a return for dinner when my family came over and it was a wonderful Sunday dinner.

We stayed three nights at the Golspie Inn and felt that there is a lot that could be improved and that there have been better days for this establishment! Generally service was rather impersonal and slow, the ambience was gloomy, the furnishings tired and dilapidated. Our room looked out onto the A9 which became quite busy and noisy from around 0630 until 2100. The furnishings and bathroom had clearly been renewed but not to a high standard, in particular the dressing table stool was very wobbly and unsafe. The room was not serviced daily but strangely a bundle of new towels was left outside the room each day. We ate each night in the bar area as there are no alternatives in the village. The kitchen service was particularly slow but the food was very good. Breakfast service again was very slow and the buffet table had a very limited choice of juices & cereals, no fruit. Overall we expected better from what we read on the website and the £200/night price point.
