Golden Village Lodge

Good.

Hotel is off the highway so although it’s in Golden everything is a drive away. Reception staff friendly but no one on the front desk when we checked in or out. Beds are custom built but extremely high off the ground. Wrong WiFi code given so had to go back to reception for correct one (hotels response on ******* review was that we were using the wrong WiFi connection this is not true) No ironing board ( hotels response on ******* is that when we asked at reception about it they said it has been ordered but not arrived this is a lie again as I never asked about it, it was just an observation) No hairdryer (again their reply on ******* review was a lie) There was a door in the room which I presume was if we wanted an in reconnecting room, there was no lock on this door. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything the next room was saying. No plug next to coffee machine (again the hotel lie about this in their ******* response) Only a curtain at the window no blind so in the daytime you had to keep the curtains closed or anyone walking past would see in. Bathroom (just a toilet and shower) is tiny, the sink is in the main bedroom. Don’t waste your money staying here

We were looking for a hotel that would be clean and safe. It was OK but the bathroom, smelt, mouldy and mildew. There were water stains on the ceiling and the floor tongue and groove wood slots moved. The phone did not work at all to even ask for more towels as there weren’t enough in the room for four of us. The beds were made when we put the sign out and the garbage was taken away, but the bathroom was never cleaned properly. On the upside, there was free parking, microwave and fridge in the room.

Recently renovated or maybe renos are still ongoing, our accommodation was clean, attractive, and comfortable. The single queen size bed layout allowed for lots of room for our luggage without it being in our way and there was the added bonus of 2 suitcase holders - frequently it is just 1. Our room had a coffee maker with coffee packets, a microwave and fridge with freezer. Note: no dishes or cutlery so if planning on picking up food to eat in, bring a picnic set. Front desk was helpful and when we found our bed hadn’t been made up properly, staff immediately attended to correct the problem. There is no restaurant on site but we found dinner and breakfast the next morning not too far away - Golden isn’t a large place.

This was a very affordable option for us in Golden. The highlight was definitely the staff! They were very friendly and helpful. We were worried about noise from the highway but in the end we didn't notice it at all. We would stay there again for sure.
