Hotel Maxwell Anderson

We stayed in this Hotel when it was called The Denver and were very pleased to see that rumours that the change of ownership was going to result in loss of it's character and charm was incorrect. There are still some lovely features like the tiled floors, stain glass windows and antiques to admire.  We love the town of Glenwood Springs and like to stay here because of it's easy walk to the shops and restaurants. Breakfast is not included but we love the choices at The Daily Bread cafe. The boutique attached is an added bonus. A trip to the Vaudeville theatre is also fun to do.

Lovely clean hotel right in the middle of everything. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Would definitely return.

The Hotel Maxwell Anderson is a fine restored hotel convenient to many downtown Glenwood Springs attractions. I stopped here after a train ride (the hotel is located across the street from the Amtrak station) for a few days before heading to other parts of Colorado. The interior public spaces (such as the large lobby) have lots of nostalgic touches; reminding you of how long this building has been here. The room I stayed in was comfortable, the newer addition doesn't have much (loud) foot traffic. It's easy to walk to downtown Glenwood Springs and even across the Colorado River to the Glenwood Caverns theme park. There's a nice lunchtime & dinner pub off the lobby, as well as a small breakfast coffee shop. But this hotel doesn't have a full breakfast eatery onsite; you'd have to walk downtown to other restaurants & bakeries for that.

We found the hotel easily using GPS. It is very well kept and clean inside. Very eccentric in decor, which was nice. The rooms have all been remodeled in a tastefully retro-modern style, paying homage to its roots with stained glass and retro tile bathrooms done in white and black tile. The employees were very friendly and informative. Check-in went smoothly. Parking is just across the street from the hotel for a nightly fee. I definitely recommend staying at the Maxwell Anderson!
