The George and Pilgrims has become our go-to place every time we are in Glastonbury. The 15th Century building is full of character with a covered road for coaches running through the centre. Our favourite rooms are 8 (The Henry 8th room, with a window facing the famous High Street) and 9 (A suite of rooms with a separate room with a single bed). Access is up a fairly steep set of spiral steps, which might give access problems for some, but staff are willing to help with luggage is needed. Breakfast is served in the dining room and is included with most room rates. There is a good range of food served by friendly, cheerful staff. The location makes the hotel an excellent base for exploring Glastonbury, and easy to return to during the day with shopping, to use the toilet, or for a drink or food in the excellent bar and restaurant (reviewed separately). The G&P genuinely feels like a home from home for us now, and the staff are always welcoming and generally wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming (especially the breakfast lady, whose name I have sadly forgotten); the rooms well set up and immaculate and the food and drink was delicious! The history alone would have made this worth a visit; but the treatment we were given made it a truly memorable one. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We’ve been going to Glastonbury festival for over 20 years but are now at an age where the camping experience does not appeal! We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this! The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper. There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred. Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks. Overall, the central location couldn’t be beaten, it's right on the High Street. The staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

We stayed at George and Pilgrim and the accomodation we were given was utterly unacceptable. The premises were dirty and smelly, with revolting bathroom conditions, crumbling walls, and a stinking carpet. Even worse were the incredibly rude staff. Never again.

Perfect stay. Nothing is too much trouble. Matt and the gang, front of house, are outstanding hosts. Chef Adrian, (husband of the fantastic Wren - what an amazing character -) provided wonderful meals, beautifully cooked, every single time. Rooms are characterful and immaculate. Terrible room, small and no telephone with a view of roof tops and window ledges of pigeons and poop. Expensive drinks. Nice choice of breakfast. Parking is a joke, having to drive around the back of the hotel after I tried to check in. Cost of parking was a hidden charge i was not aware of.Didn't bother trying to carry my large suitcase to the room as it was all stairs. Location was fantastic.

Always eat in the George and pilgrim when we visit Glastonbury,and we have always wanted to stay the night .We stayed on the 2 April in room 2 .It was everything we imagined.Old ,quirky,and mysterious.Staff as always were brilliant,evening meal lovely and breakfast served by a lovely funny lady .Will be back for another stay

We visited the George and pilgrim for dinner on our stay in Glastonbury. The place itself looked amazing from the outside so went in to eat. We had the steak and ale pie with chunky chips which was lovely. Our server jack was really pleasant and helpful nothing was too much trouble for him. He was very polite and charming. Lovely food excellent service,will definitely return and recommend.
