Brickhouse Inn B&B

My best friend and I were lucky enough to get Silver for our tour guide for both the food tour and the brew tour. She was down to earth, knowledgeable, and fun to be around! So grateful to her for making our vacation a blast :)

My mom and I have stayed at the Brickhouse for 10 years or so—when it was owned by Brian and Tessa. I cannot emphasize enough how magical it was—the grounds beautiful, the staff friendly, the rooms gorgeous, clean, and well-maintained. We stayed there once a few years ago under the new ownership, and were disappointed by the lack of interaction with the staff, the upcharge on breakfast (when it is a B&B), and the overall tackiness of the ghost industry (it was my preference for ghosts to stay elsewhere on Steinwehr). Today I went to check out the grounds and see if they had changed. I spoke with an innkeeper who walked away from me in the middle of a conversation—she was angry that I criticized the ghost industry. She then told me to get off her property or she would call the police. I left, shaking in rage at being so disrespected by a place of business. Please beware that the Brickhouse is not open to criticism or conversation—they are here to make money off of ghost tours and they will not accommodate you. They might even tell you to leave. It’s a shame that over a decade of memories has ended this way. If you’re looking for a good inn, I recommend the Battlefield B&B, the Keystone, and especially the Brafferton—none of which charge for breakfast, and the last of which is right in town with a full breakfast menu. Stay somewhere where your business is wanted.
