The Royal Senses Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton

Hotel is not close to anything. Need to drive 5-10 minutes to the closest village for food etc. but it’s a very pretty seaside village. Room is ok. Need to have better shower drainage. Planning of the hotel is just not very thoughtful. Should have one funicular on both sides of this large hotel. The changing room for the swimming pool is like a 5 minutes walk away. Doesn’t make sense. And why did they put so much salt in the pool? Restaurant food was very mediocre and service was slow. So many hotel choices in Crete and this is definitely not the best.

My stay at The Royal Senses Hotel in Crete was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The resort’s amenities are equally impressive, with a spa that provides indulgent treatments, a well-equipped fitness center, and multiple pools perfect for lounging. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing retreat or a base to explore Crete, The Royal Senses delivers on every front. The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring the island, with easy access to nearby beaches, charming villages, and historical sites. The staff also went above and beyond to offer recommendations and assist with arranging excursions. A very very beautiful resort, landscaped and maintained by artists! and one that has a lot going for it. Pros- 1- Breakfast was amazing and dinner also had a lot of choice , something for everyone, out of this world desserts. Never seen so Many honey types or olive oil choices. breakfast was even available until 11am! 2- Restaurant area has super seating, with. A nice ambience and sunset views 3- All food of good quality and quantity in buffets and a la carte available around the pool etc. 4- Standard of Furniture Fixtures across the board outstanding 5- Probably the best swimming pools in Europe, service around pools to get drinks etc exceptional , plenty of deck chairs and beds to lie around on (including cabanas not charged for - made a nice change). Watermelon was served to guests as well as cold towels to refresh oneself. 6- Clean rooms and all required amentities including plenty of bottled water, tea , coffee etc and powerful aircon. The cleaning room staff noticed my wife had picked some Jasmine flowers and placed in a tea cup, next day these had been replaced with more jasmine flowers and placed in a vase with water - a very sweet touch. 7- Very responsive service from Concierge and hotel management 8- Very professional welcome with refreshing welcome drink and cold towels and complimentary bottle of wine 9- Good for families and couples, very cold friendly and full disabled access 10- Beach facilities are by shuttle service at sister hotel 5 mins away, a lovely location and well planned out too, with a calm and safe bay to swim in. 11- Good, easy to park,parking facilities as well as porter services for ones luggage . Cons 1- ‘Some’ service staff seemed Tired and this affected service levels, a senior person should always be around them…. Slamming drinks on tables is a faux pas! As is taking away plates from tables which were still being eaten from. 2- Service Staff not flexible to requests. Seem to stick to the rule book especially in restaurants. Asking for Pita bread in Greece instead of bread rolls should not become trivial ask. Asking to replace the beef in a Burger with a chicken patty (which is being cooked also) should also not be difficult! 3- They have a fenicular to take some guests to the room floor, unfortunately on one morning it did not work due to cats and kittens being on the track :-) - staff in golf buggies saw us walking up the steep hills to get to our rooms, some initiative would have meant that they could have at least asked us if we wanted help/lift ? 4- Location is ok if you want to just stay at the amazing resort and use facilities - otherwise a bit of a trek to the nearest town- so things like the night entertainment could be a bit more jazzed up- hidden in a corner as a ‘must we really do this ‘ doesn’t work. 5- Fruit juice - on an island blessed with so many fruits ! Watermelon juice for example should be on the menu… amongst other choices. Also coffee, water and tea

The best hotel in crete, amazing property with great service and high level food and beverage. Very friendly for families and rooms and suites have an exceptional view of the sea and sunset.
