Decent Hotel with Nice Interior, but Poor Management
We booked a twin bed room and stayed for two nights. While the interior and location were decent for a 3-star hotel, the experience was disappointing overall due to poor service and management.
To begin with, the front desk could only provide one room card for our room. Even after explaining that we’d be going out separately, they claimed they were short on cards and had to save them for incoming guests. I’ve stayed in countless hotels over the years and never encountered such a situation. A friend who stayed here years ago had the same issue, so clearly this has been ongoing for years. Room cards aren’t expensive or special — the hotel has only around 50 rooms, so there’s really no excuse for not having enough. To make matters worse, they charge RM50 for each lost card!
Our twin bed room came with two super single beds, which may feel cramped for larger guests — so just something to keep in mind.
Another issue was the room door, which doesn’t auto-lock. You have to pull and check it manually to ensure it’s secure — not something you’d expect from a modern hotel.
On our first morning, housekeeping knocked and rang the doorbell at 10AM asking to clean the room. Admittedly, we forgot to hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign, but 10AM feels far too early. Isn’t housekeeping usually scheduled after noon?
Not worth paying extra for breakfast. The food wasn’t appetizing and the coffee was terrible so we skipped breakfast entirely on the second day.
What shocked us most was returning to our room to find it left completely unlocked after housekeeping as they didn’t close it completely. Thankfully, nothing was missing — but by that point, we were too exhausted to raise the issue, especially when the front desk staff had already shown reluctance to assist with anything. They couldn’t provide us with an extra key card, yet somehow had no issue leaving our room unsecured. It’s a serious lapse in both security and basic guest care.
In summary: while the hotel has a nice interior and a good location, the management is seriously lacking. For a three-star property, the service feels more like one-star. With better options available in Georgetown, I’d recommend staying elsewhere for a more reliable and cared-for experience.
