Stopped in on my way to Lake Tahoe and you can pay yo use the facilities (I believe they are free if your staying in the hotel, $55 per day if not) The spa area is very clean with a variety of pools that vary in temperature (103-105) It has toilets, showers, locker room and steam room (you do need to supply your own lock for your locker, if you don't have one you can buy one in the shop for $10) The shop also has a good selection of snacks and drinks

This is a beautiful property and the staff was very friendly upon our arrival. We were there for two nights. Our room was 80 degrees when we arrived and I reset the thermostat and let the staff know, as we went out to visit family in the area. They responded by text that the Chiller was being repaired. The room never got below 75. I'm an active 78 year old male that woke up Sunday morning with no water pressure to shower and as we got ready to leave from the 3rd floor all the electricity went out. Had to hand carry all of our luggage down three flights of stairs. Felt sorry for the two families we met in the hallway as they had booked five more days.

We've had an amazing weekend stay at the IHG David Walley resort. On top of an enjoyable escape here enjoying the locals and outdoors, dining at the 1862 restaurant, soaking at the historic hot spring at no additional cost for resort guest, etc. I want to recognize the manager on duty, Will, for having provided us outstanding customer care during our stay. There was an un-intentional incident occurring during our stay but he took ownership immediately, handled the matter with exceptional professionalism, and ensured we were fully looked after. His responsiveness and genuine care not only provided us with instant assurance of the hotel over the small issue (which didn't lead to any un-wanted outcome anyway), but left us with an even more positive impression of the hotel. Employees like him not only elevates the entire guest experience at the resort, but also help adding to the positive image of the IHG hotel chain that we're loyal members of.

I've been an owner here for many years. The early good years, then the terrible years and now good again. Treated very well by the staff. And some pressure to attend an owner review when checking in. But with a bit of friendly banter and a promise to "call you tomorrow" that stopped.

History, restaurant, views? All great. However, Holiday Inn staff is rude & troublesome. Got little sleep due to door between rooms being insanely thin & staff calling the room early in the A.M. while we slept to try & sell us time shares. Repeatedly pushed time shares like a car salesman while you were trying to relax. Booked & paid on VRBO, including all taxes & fees, & then charged $118 in resort fees by the hotel itself AFTER we check out w/o any warning. Was told my card must be placed on file purely for incidental purposes. VRBO ended up refunding me on their end after the hotel very rudely refused to reverse their predatory surprise charges that were supposed to be covered in my initial booking. On the morning of checkout, we had cleaning ladies continuously ringing doorbells & attempting to get us out an hour & a half before check out, which further exacerbated our restfulness. Worst hotel I've ever stayed.

The history & the hot pools? Fantastic. The restaurant/saloon? Fantastic. Adored the man playing live music & the wait staff. Docked rating because we got poor sleep for a vacay. Our room shared a door w/the next room’s bathroom. Not soundproof. Could see the light from our neighbors bathroom shining into our room. If they took a shower at midnight or if they spoke even quietly to each other in the bathroom it sounded like they were in the room w/us. Staff called us at 9 AM after being awak since 6 due to neighbors… trying to sell us spots for a timeshare. Which woke us up all over. Check out day, the cleaners woke us an hour before checkout to ask us to checkout…but refused to change sheets on days we weren’t checking out… very frustrating when you’re there w/the intention to be out late and then sleep in.

Overall the location was good and the staff members were very pleasant. Initially we couldn't get into our room; keycards clicked but door wouldn't open. We called for help and after 10 minutes made a 2nd call. Someone from the front desk came but couldn't get the door open either. Maintenance finally arrived and got it open. We had to call again to get hand towels and washcloths, which were promptly delivered. The room was fine, although dated and the screen door came off the track when opened. The exterior hallway had large cracks and holes. The restaurant was okay but service was pretty slow.
