Gourmet & Wine Hotel Austria - 4 Sterne Superior

It was just as lovely as we remembered from our last trip a few years ago. It's in a good location with a great view. The food is very good, with lots of choice. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. We absolutely love the pool area; it's very relaxing after skiing. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, as was our Inghams rep. A special mention has to go to Zoltan, Sven, Martin and Gary, who are a credit to their employers. We love the ski area too, and especially the Nederhutte, which is a must for apres ski and great music. We will be returning in the future.

We took a family ski trip here with Inghams. The hotel is well located, attractive and the accommodation is excellent. Staff were really helpful, friendly and were wonderful with our young children. The food, particularly the 3 course evening meal, was truly superb! Given the opportunity, we would certainly book here again.

Hotel Austria is in a great location, a short 2 min walk from the slopes. The rooms are large & nicely decorated, with modern bathrooms. The boot/ski room was perfect. The Food at the hotel was lovely, they have recently been awarded a Michelin Star & you can see why. All of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. We were served daily in the restaurant by Amy & sometimes Tristian, both were very good. Peter the Maitre d' had a great sense of humour. We hired our ski equipment from Lohmann & they couldn't have made it any easier. They picked us up from the hotel and once we had got everything, dropped us back to the hotel. At the end of the week, we just left our ski's etc outside the hotel & they arrange for it to be picked up. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Excellent stay at the Hotel Austria. It’s a beautiful hotel, a few steps from the slopes of Obergurgl. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, from my oat latte every morning, to our picnic breakfast prepared without us asking because we had an early pick up on the final day. The food was incredible, with great variety - lived up to the “gourmet”. It’s not tailored to kids (the hotel is definitely more adult friendly) but I did see some dishes being prepared specifically for children. The spa (in the adjoining Hotel Bellevue) was great to ease the aching muscles after a day on the slopes, and highly recommend a massage too - one of the best I’ve had. My only small complaint would be that the whirlpool is too small for the number of people using the facilities - only comfortably fitting 4 people, so we often couldn’t use it. After being on the slopes we usually just wanted a beer - so didn’t sample the extensive wine list. We’ll just have to visit again to remedy that.

An absolutely superb, wonderful hotel. Stayed for skiing and booked through Crystal Ski (who were superb btw). Hard to know where to start and I'll run out of superlatives...I couldn't really find fault. The rooms are great, very roomy and all have TV, safe, bath robe, slippers etc etc. Plenty of storage. I had a lovely balcony too with great views. The Spa is incredible...outdoor heated pool through a sliding door, a beautiful indoor pool, Saunas, jacuzzi, great little gym with all the top equipment you need. There are even water beds to relax on. Amazing. I've been skiing for a long time and never ever had a boot room so luxurious as the one in the Austria. Spacious lockers operated by room key card with heaters, seating, toilets and....a lift!!! Fantastic!. The food in the hotel is simply superb. Exquisite. The buffet Breakfast is fabulous and Dinner is just incredible ..as is the wine list. The hotel also has a Michelin star restaurant which can be booked...but I just can't see how the food could be any better than what was served. Lovely bar area. Open fire. Snacks after skiing. Superb, friendly staff throughout. It's a five star, ten out of ten rating from me. I couldn't find fault. But note. In Austria tap water is charged in restaurants and very few, if any, hotels provide tea and coffee facilities in rooms. I knew this so took my own travel kettle. The Austria is 50 metres from a blue piste leading to a drag and gondola. It's perfectly placed as you can ski back to same spot in the afternoon. The hotel made a packed breakfast/lunch when I checked out as I was leaving early. Nice touch. Incredible, wonderful hotel.
