Preis/Leistung okay

Our fourth visit to Hotel Jenewein and once again they exceeded expectations. The location is perfect, the hotel has an air of old world charm but it is immaculately maintained. The staff are highly professional, attentive, respectful yet personable. There is an amazing spa which provides numerous amenities and beds for relaxing. The food is excellent with multiple choices and the only issue is managing the quantity! Quite simply stunning.

Lovely hotel right at the end of the slope by the gondola. Very good staff, so friendly and very good food. Lovely spa facilities, nice spacious rooms. Stayed for a week in March and it was perfect. Great apres ski bar too! Large comfortable bar area with log fire.

My recent stay at Hotel Jenewein left much to be desired, particularly concerning the accommodation's capacity for three persons. Although the room was advertised to comfortably sleep three individuals, the quality of the third bed was severely lacking. Upon arrival, we found the third bed to be exceptionally uncomfortable. It was noticeably hard, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. Hoping to resolve the issue, we approached the reception staff for assistance. Unfortunately, our initial request was met with reluctance, and it was only after persistent inquiry to our rep that they reluctantly provided a thin throw in an attempt to improve the situation. Despite this makeshift solution, the discomfort persisted throughout our stay, significantly impacting our overall experience at Hotel Jenewein. As guests, we expect accommodations to meet the advertised standards of comfort, and regrettably, this was not the case during our visit. In addition to the bedding issue, we also found the response from the reception staff to be disappointing. Hospitality should encompass a willingness to address guest concerns promptly and effectively, yet our interactions fell short of this expectation. This is a long established family hotel - they could and should have asked other hotels to help source a mattress if they could not source one themselves. While Hotel Jenewein may have certain redeeming qualities, such as its convenient location, excellent food and friendly restaurant staff, the subpar sleeping arrangements and unsatisfactory customer service overshadowed any positive aspects of our stay. In conclusion, I cannot in good faith recommend Hotel Jenewein to fellow travelers, especially those in need of accommodations for three persons. Improvement in both bedding quality and guest service is essential for enhancing the overall guest experience.

We were three middle aged lads on our annual week ski holiday. Chose Hotel Jennewein pretty much at random. It was great. Room was comfy with three single beds. Evening meals were excellent. Obergurgl is a quiet family oriented style ski resort. Never any queue for any lifts not even first gondola of the morning. There's not a huge amount of skiing but it links via a cross valley lift with Hochgurgl which is similar size and between the two there's just enough for a week skiing. There is also a free bus to Solden 15 mins down the valley and all week long lift passes also cover Solden so you get free skiing here. Solden is a much bigger resort with glacier skiing high up. But we preferred skiing at Obergurgl. Solden is busier, more crowded and attracts a younger party style ski crowd. Also the last run down to Solden village is slow slushy and full of beginners - horrible. Last run down to Obergurgl by comparison is great as Obergurgl village is quite high (the highest village in Austria) so the last snow is great. There is a great pre ski bar at hotel Jennewein which is literally at the foot of the slope, so it is very much ski in. It is the perfect apres bar - not too crowded, or too busy and it attracts a more mature crowd. Perfect. The last mountain restaurant on your way down is the Nedderhutte. This has a fantastic apres atmosphere most nights of the week. Check which nights the band play. They really get the crowd going with everyone up on tables dancing along. Again the atmosphere is fantastic because the crowd is a bit more mature and not the younger wild drunken crowd you get at some resorts. A local described Obergurgl to us as - a bit exclusive. I'd agree.

Recently returned from a wonderful week in Obergurgl staying at the Jenewein. As a family making it's first overseas ski trip together (after every year in Australia), we could not have been more impressed by the resort or the hotel. The hotel sits in a fantastic location at the bottom of the slopes and next to two gondolas. The resort itsellf provides ample skiing for all but the those seeking reallly tough terrain. It was perfect for the kids who could ski everything (they were fair skiiers before arriving) after a few lessons on the first days. We didn't experience a single lift queue in the whole week. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the food was excellent (and more than you can really eat) and the staff very friendly. Our room was a family suite (which was absolutely perfect for 4 guests) with a seperate room for the kids (16 and 12). The hotel does have two bars (one of which is a popular apre ski venue, being right at the bottom of the run home), but the inside one was closed during our stay, due to the hotel being quitet in the first week after new year. It was no issue to carry drink from teh other bar into the sitting area though. The ski locker room is a decent size, very well equipped, with boot warmers in each locker. We made our own way from Innsbruck rather than getting a transfer and the train and local bus were both incredibly efficint and reasonably priced (about 10% of the cost of the transfer). We will definitely be back.
