Howard Johnson by Wyndham Downtown Gatlinburg

Location: Frequently praised for being in downtown Gatlinburg, near attractions like the aquarium, main strip, and The Village, with walking access to shops and restaurants.

We were placed on the fourth floor across from the elevators, which was right next to housekeeping. We were woken up by banging and screaming from children who were brought to work by the maids. We also never got any extra towels, toilet paper and toiletries despite not having our do not disturb sign up. The water pressure in the bathroom was TERRIBLE and the balcony railings on the second, third and fourth floors seemed like they were not stable and safe at all. The hand railing in the bathroom was broken off and when I went to grab it in the shower it almost broke off and made me fall over. If I was older I could've gotten hurt. The beds were comfy, but when I woke up the next morning, I had bites all over me and I was very itchy. We also used the elevator, and it was not licensed to run, as the inspection expired months previously and was still hung up on the wall in the elevator. This was very illegal and should not have been in use. We did not feel safe on the elevator at all, and you could hear it bang against the same spot each time you went past the second floor, every time we got into it you could hear it like clockwork. We have been coming to this same hotel since 2022 and we were on our honeymoon this time. We overall had a good honeymoon but both agreed we would not be returning to this hotel as this stay was very unpleasant. The location is great, and the view is superb, but the hotel is overall going downhill fast. We also were greeted by the same unpleasant worker at the front desk each time. I would say fix these issues: elevator, showers, customer service, and I may come back and visit again!

The staff was wonderful the amenities were exactly as expected the pools were great and clean rooms were clean hotel overall was 10/10
