Property Description
The Trapper’s Cabin is a 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin located in the heart of Gasquet, CA, conveniently situated off the 199 highway. Gasquet is 20 miles from the ocean, 10 miles from the Redwood National Forest, and sits directly on the Smith River. Come for the many adventures that the tallest trees, cleanest river, and secluded beaches have to offer, but stay for a sense of pure serenity. The cabin is just a short walk to the river. There is a fish cleaning station and grill in the backyard for anyone who is lucky enough to catch a prize winning steelhead or salmon. The immediate neighborhood is perfect for bike rides, hiking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, mushroom hunting, berry picking, bigfoot hunting, bird watching, quartz or gold mining, and stargazing. There is also an amazing massage therapist within walking distance, in case your adventures have left you feeling a bit sore. At the Trapper’s Cabin, you will have a spectacular view of the Adam’s Station, a local landmark. The view will take you back to the 1800’s, when Mary Adams Peacock entertained the many travelers who stopped at her B&B for a warm meal and comfortable bed. Yet, the cabin itself, has all the comforts and amenities of home. It has been designed for the explorer who still likes to come home to a memory foam mattress and smart TV. There is a queen sized mattress in each of the two bedrooms, as well as two cot-sized day beds in the living room, in case you need to sleep six. There is also a full kitchen and small laundry room. The backyard is secure and well suited for pets or small children. Although the cabin is relatively private, after a walk around the neighborhood, you will find that Gasquet has some of the most friendly neighbors around. NOTES: There is only one market in Gasquet with limited groceries. You will want to come prepared if you plan on cooking. The nearest grocery store is in Crescent City (20 miles west) or Cave Junction (35 miles east). There is also only one restaurant in Gasquet (Patrick Creek Lodge) and one restaurant in Hiouchi, the next town west, (Hiouchi Cafe). If you would like to book a massage, fishing trip, kayak rental, etc. you should do so well in advance. This house is so cute & cozy! It was one of those properties where you feel like you're staying at a friend's or family member's home; comfortable.....not stuffy or stressful with too many fragile knickknacks & strict rules! We loved the back porch for dinner and the hanging swings for reading & coffee. The place is well stocked so you don't have to run out for every little thing. My daughters loved the provided cookies & q-tips, haha! Very comfy beds with soft sheets.

We enjoyed our visit and the cookies that were waiting for us when we arrived. The house is walking distance to the Smith River and a quick drive to Jedediah Smith State Park not to mention several other great trails. The large wall map in the cabin was very helpful to find local spots to explore. We all (dogs and humans) enjoyed the large yard with fire pit.

A splendid stay at the Trappers Cabin Beautiful location directly across the street from historic Adams Station. The giant map on the wall was a constant source of amusement for the whole family. Great little library of local history on shelves. Wish I had experimented with the French press earlier on; finally mastered it on our last morning there. My wife and I usually split a 12 cup pot at home. The wussier kids were alarmed by the spider population onsite, but I told them that's country living!

Great cabin The cabin is located in the prefect spot for visiting the Redwoods. It was only about a 25 minute drive to amazing hiking. We enjoed giant map wall. It was fun to look at and read where travelers spent their time. The bathroom was well stocked with everything we could need. We didn't use the kitchen but it appeared to have all the needed items. It's a few houses in, next to a main road, so traffic at night could be heard at times. The mattresses and pillows were firm. They had plenty of blankets and pillows. The "daybeds" weren't really daybeds. They were a foam mattress on a wooden bench someone created. These worked well for sitting and hanging out. But our teen son slept on it. It doesn't make for the best bed for an adult size person.

A perfect spot to relax We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. The neighborhood was quiet and allowed for great evening walks. The river was a quick walk away and kept our teen sons interested with fishing and catching frogs. The house had everything you need for a comfortable stay. A quick drive to the state parks which had the best walking trails!
