Most places one visits has the flaws hidden but you find them when you look more closely. This is the only place I’ve stayed where the opposite is true - the flaws are obvious (but overwhelmingly just aesthetic) and the stuff that really matters is all good. Flaws first - I’ve never known 1970’s garage-sale furnishings and decor to still be in regular use in a busy, vibrant area. It’s like stepping into a time capsule from some fuzzy memories of my youth. Cracks in paint, rust on metal baseboard heaters, extension cords rigged in weird ways. Road can be noisy. Positives - the stuff that needs to be spotlessly clean is. They seem diligent about it on a daily basis. The sinks, toilet, bath, refrigerator, and even the inside of the microwave all give confidence (latter two appliances are newer vintage). I’ve seen nice hotels fail the “coffee maker and look under the mattresses” test, but not here. When looking out the back window over the Bay I find the anachronisms uniquely charming, and the price certainly helps too. We spent an entire week here. The staff are very responsive and helpful. Neither French nor English is their first language, but their good attitude comes across any language barrier.

It's a mediocre motel, insects in the bathroom, blinds that let light into the room all night, the water isn't drinkable but they don't offer any bottled water, the Wi-Fi is worthless unless you're in front of the office door. A beautiful view that can only be admired from end-of-life chairs repaired with tie-rap. In addition, the lady at the reception barely understands French. Go elsewhere, there are better options.

The motel is on the edge of Route 132, which is very noisy! It's impossible to stand on the small terrace in front of the room; 3 km from downtown Gaspé, you have to take the car. The room was huge with 2 queen-size beds, a dining table for 4 and 2 armchairs. We had a toaster, a microwave and a very large fridge. 2 hotplates were available and dishes and cutlery for 4 as well as a filter coffee machine. The furniture was ordinary, even ugly, I had the impression that everything had been bought at a garage sale or second-hand, but there was no aesthetic research or desire to make the room cozy. Too bad! Otherwise, the bathroom was ok, housekeeping every day, the establishment was clean. Laundry facilities available at the campsite, which is very practical. A little extra: the room window had a superb view of Gaspé Bay, at the end of the Forillon Peninsula.
