Nice pub and rooms, ideal stopping off point travelling up north near Stirling. The restaurant is good, with reasonably priced classic pub food and selection of beers. Unfortunately we left too early to have the full Scottish breakfast which was included.

My wife and I stayed for three nights and totally enjoyed our experience. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for exploring the beauty of the surrounding area. One of the highlights was meeting and interacting with the locals who own this inn/pub. All in all a fabulous experience!

This place is a gem , we stayed whilst attending a wedding nearby, staff, room, food service all first class ! totally recommend The Black Bull , just to cap it all Elvis was appearing in the village hall next door !

When we arrived we were allocated room 3, a large room with a very nice view. Friendly staff. At first glance in the bathroom the paint was peeling from the wall and a large cobweb was in the corner. Taking a shower was not a great experience as water poured through the connection of the showerhead. Bedroom, again paint chipped, cobweb hanging in the corner of the room and from under the radiator. The wardrobe, was a small space above a chest of drawers,unable to hang a coat, and difficult to reach. The window frame in the bedroom was sadly needing washed. Breakfast was good, however again attention to detail was lacking, tops of sauce bottles needed cleaning. This was all very disappointing. It was supposed to be small treat for us celebrating our wedding anniversary. We did take pictures of this room.

In Scotland, everything is authentic and incredible. We spent 10 days exploring it as a family and were thrilled. But Black Bull Gartmore was undoubtedly one of the most special. We arrived late due to weather conditions, and they were kind enough to serve us dinner in their pleasant restaurant despite being overdue. We were very grateful. The place has all the flavor of the world, with photos that tell the story of this beautiful town and the family. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the breakfast was phenomenal. Highly recommended, close to Stirling and surrounded by a wonderful agricultural environment.
