Wittelsbacher Hof Swiss Quality Hotel

This is a decent 4-star hotel located in Garmisch. It was 7 min walk from train station. There was a kebab shop and an icecream restaurant right next to and across it. Dm drug store, supermarkets and more restaurants are within minutes of walking distance. Breakfast was buffet-style. There were a couple of staffs at breakfast and they were amazing. They would ask what kind of coffee and eggs you like for the day, and their service was quick and polite. Choices of food was more than sufficient, with croissants and rolls, toaster available, smoked salmon, a wide variety of spreads, ham, cheese, fruit juices, vegetables, cereals, milk/skimmed milk/soy milk/oat milk, more than 10 types of tea……. 4-5 pm is tea-time. The sitting room was elegant and spacious, which makes you feel calm and at home, with some background soothing music. You can read the papers or choose a book from the shelf there. There was also a small pool, steam and sauna, which were all delightful and relaxing, esp if it was raining and cold on some days. My room has a balcony which faces the mountains. It was spectacular and stunning to enjoy this view at dawn and dusk. Staffs were friendly and helpful. There was one gentleman, in shirt and tie every day ( who happened to have injured his leg and wore an orthosis and crutches to work) displayed exceptional kindness and passion in his job. He offered help and a lot suggestions spontaneously whenever I asked questions and told me “it is why I am here!”

If you’re looking for a five star rated hotel then this isn’t it, however read on…. What this hotel lacks in decor it makes up for with value and customer service. The female receptionist (didn’t catch name) was so friendly and informative, the breakfast staff were welcoming and quick with our needed morning coffees… the breakfast was perfect, the spa is a lovely addition, the night staff were helpful and friendly and I’d take all of this with this price over a five star anyday :) Ten minute walk from train station, lots of food and drink places near by… And the view from our room was just amazing.

This was a great hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is right on the river between both old downtowns, only a few blocs from the train station. This definitely still has the feel of a German spa hotel. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were large and comfortable but had older furnishings. I would definitely stay here again. It felt like a fun, older hotel rather than a cookie cutter chain hotel.

You're taken back to the good old days when Garmisch was still a relatively quiet retreat surrounded by mountains. The mou tains haven't moved but nowadays traffic thunders through town. All the while, the Wittelsbacher Hof remains a peaceful island in the center. The pool is heated and spotlessly clean. Try for a room facing the garden and Germany's highest mountain. Breakfast is so so. Not much fruit but the rolls are fresh.

Stayed 1 night. Easy parking on street just outside hotel. Within walking distance of local restaurants. Staff was friendly and communicated well despite our lack of German language skill. The room was fine although as others have noted a bit out of style. Enjoyed sitting out on balcony with Mountain View to recap my day via email with family and friends in the US. Breakfast was included, which was a bonus. At first we thought it was just a lot of serve yourself pastries and cold cuts, but then a waitress asked how we would like our custom omelette made! Our first real breakfast in almost 2 weeks of our trip.
