Very comfortable and quiet for a working weekend. The room was clean, air conditioned, comfortable bed, mirrors & power points convenient, bathroom & shower great. Staff very helpful and welcoming. We had a meal deal in the adjoining restaurant which was for a full range of breakfast continental or full breakfast with cereals, toast, juices, cooked eggs, bacon etc and a 2 course evening meal with wine or beer, great choice and portion size. As we were working this was very useful.

After reading other recent reviews we were a little bit worried. The actual entrance isn’t clear or very welcoming and the exterior area needs a good clean. However once inside it was great. Our room was spotless, peaceful, air con was great, staff wonderful. Food was as you’d expect at a Premier Inn pub. Bit of a wait for hot food at breakfast but at least it was freshly prepared!

We have stayed here twice before and have been happy with the service/cleanliness but this time, unfortunately not. The bar was closed most of the time , including our first Saturday night. The next morning, whilst my husband was blowing his nose with the toilet tissue, he realised that underneath the toilet tissue dispenser was, what appeared to be, human feaces smeared, with some also on the wall (husband- compromised immune system and on anti biotics). After returning from our day out, this still had not been cleaned. Un happy with the first 2 breakfasts. The whole place was understaffed and run down. Premiere Inn think that the compensation for all 5 nights with breakfasts included was worth £84!!! Overall, not a great, annual holiday!

From the outside if it wasn't for lights visible through the windows you might have thought it was closed down...no pub name visible from road as the hanging sign wasn't there!. From the carpark , neither the entrance to the hotel or the restaurant were obvious. Very UNWELCOMING. Seemed understaffed. Room was fine although the doorhandle/ lock was hanging off..I used my tweezers to tighten the screws! Restaurant staff were pleasant but room was very uninspiring and the food offer was appalling! Only choice with salad was chicken breast which I would have been happy with but they had none so I was offered chicken goujons!!! Ended up with scampi and chips which was poor! Breakfast was equally disappointing : Only redcurrants as the berry offering. Staff not obvious. Tea and coffee tasted dreadful...Issue with the water, maybe? We cancelled our 2nd nights meal deal and got recommendations for other places to eat nearby. This place supposedly had a refurb 6 years ago! What happened?

Sadly this hotel is currently beyond tired. Whilst the staff themselves were trying their best, there were quite obviously not enough of them, and the few there were could not accomplish everything that was apparently expected of them. Whilst our room might just scrape an "adequate", the corridors and communal areas were disgracefully dirty, with cobwebs and spiders everywhere, especially around the windows and lights. As for the food, the evening meal was basic and the beer flat, but in the morning, after asking twice, and waiting for a good 15-20 minutes for the breakfast hot buffet food to be replenished, we finally gave in and left. I'm normally a huge fan of a Premier Inn, as wherever you go, you know the standard you will get and it's normally just what I want. This stay at this hotel on this occasion did NOT meet my expectations or the usual standards I've experienced at a Premier Inn.

We stayed as a family for 4 nights, there has been a lot of mixed reviews about this hotel so I shall give an honest review. The rooms. The room we had was clean, the bedding fresh, bathroom was clean although small detailed cleaning was needed for example the extractor fan could have been cleaned more throughly. The hotel. It’s an older building which does need updating but while we were there they had decorators in painting the reception area so it is being updated, we also saw painters in the bedrooms and maintenance people hoovering out the air conditioning vents. Yes you will find grass on the entrance area and in the hallways. It’s a rural hotel based in North Yorkshire where people go walking in their walking boots and will return to their rooms with their boots on! (can’t expect the staff to be hoovering the communal carpets all day everyday) The restaurant. So for the size of the hotel the restaurant is large, one of the reception team told me that they were given no decision on the restaurant and they was forced to take it on and make it for hotel guests only. So as a result only half the restaurant is being used for dining which does give the restaurant an empty feeling, plenty of drinks at the bar. The restaurant however doesn’t open until 6pm for evening food and drinks, it opens at 6.30 for breakfast until 10.30. If you are looking for an early drink after walking etc then there are pubs a short distance walk along the canal. The food. The breakfast we had was absolutely delicious, the food was made to order which meant it was piping hot, all the usual continental breakfast sides were help yourself, fully stocked fresh and plenty to choose from, would like to mention and give recognition to Anna for her hard work and send her a special thank you for her hard work and bubbly personality at breakfast times. Evening meals, due to the staff shortages and what I was told then staff concentrating on bringing the hotel back up to usual premier inn standards there was and is limited evening meal options, we ate a few times but chose mainly to eat out, I do need to add we had to send one meal back due to chicken not being cooked properly I must admit this was a different chef from the one who cooked breakfast The staff. They were amazing and went above and beyond to make your stay a good one, again special mention to Anna. We will happily be returning to this hotel.

Don't stay here until it's been FULLY REFURBISHED. It's dirty, some rooms are diabolical. Even the inside of the vending machine in reception needs a good clean. Outside at the back looks derelict. Nothing like usual Premier Inn standards. Our room felt damp and it was good weather. It's a horrible place. Nice pubs to eat (thank goodness) 5 mins walk away. We had 'pretend ' lamps in our room, no bulbs no switches, just an ornament really..........
