I Bastioni San Domenico - Boutique Hotel

The hotel was beautiful and well located, but the room did not meet my expectations at all.

Very well-located hotel facing the sea, at the end of the Gallipoli peninsula. Magnificent rooftop. Excellent and complete breakfast.

Il punto forte di questo piccolo hotel è la colazione, che davvero vale la visita. Il personale che la serve é molto cordiale e i prodotti freschi e in modo particolare le marmellate sono eccezionali. Purtroppo abbiamo alloggiato in una stanza al piano terra molto umida e con una finestrella che non si apriva. L‘aria condizionata era stata bloccata dalla Reception per evitare un uso eccessivo da parte dei clienti amercani (così ci hanno detto), con il risultato però che l‘aria era nella nostra stanza irrespirabile e con il tipico odore della muffa. Abbiamo segnalato alla reception il problema e la persona di turno ci ha risposto che avevamo visto le dimensioni della finestra dalla prenotazione. Impossibile cambiare stanza con una di categoria uguale. Disponibile solo una suite per un sovrapprezzo di Euro 200. A tratti é stata ripristinata l’aria condizionata. Per fortuna siamo rimasti solo una notte in questa camera, davvero una brutta esperienza e peggiore il modo in cui non é stato gestito il problema dalla signora della Reception.

Dark and damp room... noisy air conditioning... impossible to open the window because it overlooks the arrival of the elevator... only The rooftop for breakfast is very good!

We stayed at this hotel last weekend. We had booked a classic room through an agency, but upon arrival, we found ourselves in a "classic room/cell" as they call it on the website, whose photos, of course, aren't available anywhere. As soon as we opened the door, we were inundated with a nauseating, damp stench that the staff attempted to mask with air fresheners scattered everywhere. The room was claustrophobic, to say the least: an old monastic cell (the hotel was originally a monastery) left in its original state, with low ceilings, a tiny bathroom with no window, and all furnished in a spartan and tasteless way. The icing on the cake? The view of the WALL of the internal courtyard. I immediately requested a room change, but they denied me, telling me there was only one other room like that available! But that's not all: we paid for a private garage for our car, but they left out one small detail: the garage was a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and coincidentally, there was never anyone available to provide a shuttle service. Furthermore, the garage door was broken and wouldn't close. In short, I only gave 2 stars for the kindness of the staff; otherwise, the 4 stars are just a matter of ratings.
