Worldmark Galena

The unit was too small with at least 50% of the unit's area taken up by a useless whirlpool and useless fireplace. The "refrigerator was woefully too small and the freezer section did not work. It had a Murphy bed that was too small, but, when lowered interfered with the furniture. The lighting layout is poorly designed, throwing too much light and making sleeping uncomfortable. The resort website did not show the true layout of the unit. If it did we would not have agreed to the stay at this resort. We will never make this mistake again. That is very sad as we thoroughly enjoyed Galena and environs.

The location is a bit out of the way. When visiting, there were a lot of kids. Had to turn on the AC fan to avoid the noise. The property is a bit outdated and bed is not comfortable. The pool and hot tub area need some serious attention.

Stay from August 6, 2023 - August 13, 2023 I will start off by saying my family has been owners since it was Fairfield in 2001 and I have been to Wyndham properties from coast to coast over the past decade or more . I have always loved Wyndham properties and the standard they normally have. This property was beyond a disappointment it was a complete dump. I was very embarrassed to bring my partner to this property after saying it’s a “resort”. Below is everything that occurred or noticed during my week stay. And attached are the photos of everything. I really hope Wyndham wakes up and fixes this entire property. - the resort only has 2 signs one is on the end of the property with unkept landscaping and weeds underneath and is also un lite at night and it’s on the main road. - from the moment you pull in you are just hit with how unkept the property is. Weeds, weeds and more WEEDS literally everywhere. From under the entrance sign to every flower bed, all in the cracked sidewalks , along all the curbs , in front of the parking couple foot high weeds. - dead plants, large tree next to entrance with tons of large areas with dead branches. No fresh mulch. - not one flower is planted on this property not in the ground not one pot not one spot of color it’s very sad looking. I have never seen a Wyndham property so unmaintained with literally zero effort put in. - the grounds of this property are just awful down to the smoking area I assume it is. It’s covered in weeds with broken retaining wall missing blocks and falling over. It had a patio lounge with no cushions and dead branches and leaves laying around the ground. - there is a large wooden galena Illinois chair that you can climb up and sit on for photos that is Over taken by weeds a few feet high. - the parking lot is very faded , full of cracks and weeds. The parking lines are non existent due to the fact that the pavement looks decades old since it been updated. - large parking lot with only 3 handicap spots that were naturally always taken. To make things worse when you did get the handicap spot the sidewalks are full of large cracks and missing spots especially in the handicap parking spots, sidewalks around it and the ramps all awful conditions . - the handicap door button for the front entrance barely works most times it did not and when it did you had to press the button repeatedly to open. - the side of the parking lot with a view of this from the main road was a dumpster fence area with no gate to block the dumpsters from sight and just piles of large trash items furniture, metal, appliances etc just piled around the dumpsters and outside the fence on both sides around it. Just awful to look at. - this whole resort is just filthy - the lobby is dated and dusty, the floors were dirty the entire week especially the rugs at the desk and entrance. Not once did I see them vacuumed all week. - the parking lot and flower beds had trash and beer cans laying around
