We really enjoyed our stay at Baia Azul. This hotel has everything! Gorgeous views from the lounge area, a lovely bar with entertainment at night, excellent service, lovely comfortable rooms, and a very nice pool area. We cannot fault it! The breakfast was also lovely. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel has great location, amazing view and pretty good rooms with balconies. The only thing is some problems with ventilation system in the kitchen so in lobby and in the main restaurant you can smell everything they cooked.

Great hotel The room we booked was not the basic room as shown on your site, but when we arrived at the hotel they said it was due to the price. So paid 24 more for nothing.

Excellent hotel with oustanding location, service and food. Perfect spot for a perfect vacation in Madeira.

There is a balcony in the photo when booking, but in reality there is not. I am very disappointed. If there is no balcony, I will not consider this hotel! But other facilities and services are very good. You can listen to music and drink in the lounge or lobby at night, which is very atmospheric. The restaurant environment is very good, and you can have breakfast while looking at the sea. The food is also delicious, and the staff is very friendly.

Hotel well located very close to the center of Funchal. Good facilities and availability of staff.

Great big hotel. Lots of German pensioners. Very good location - on the ocean, next to a large shopping center Forum and Formosa beach. Bus 1 or 2 takes you to the center of Funchal in 12 minutes. Breakfast is very varied, but queues for coffee after 8 am. Pass on the floor with stunning ocean views, you can sit outside. Didn't like the pools - with a beautiful view, but shallow, waist-deep water everywhere. Only for children. Air conditioning only works for cooling - it was cold in the room.

A very clean, pleasant hotel. Easy access to the swimming pool facing the sea. Breakfast with a varied choice. Very pleasant staff. Comfortable bed and room.

We last visited Madeira in 2016 as a couple and loved the island. We picked Hotel Baia Azul with Jet2 for this second trip with our 5yr old son. This was our first holiday together as a family abroad and we loved every minute. The hotel was everything we could have hoped for and more, child friendly but an adult feeling hotel with the decor and vibe (just what we like). The hotel was spotless and beautifully decorated, we had a sea view from and the views from the pool and the roof terrace bar area were such a treat to look at everyday. The breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Drinks and food costs were reasonable in the hotel and you are in an ideal location to visit many different restaurants and bars in the area and trips to the supermarket for essentials. We got home yesterday and rebooked last night to visit again next August Can’t wait already!!

Where do I start from reception staff and entrance lobby stunning location and views. Wonderful ambience all around. Staff amazing friendly courteous friendly. Cleaning staff should feel proud spotless all around. Bedrooms beautifully decorated and super comfy beds. Air conditioning throughout. Beach towels supplied for use in hotel pool for duration of your stay. Mini bar in rooms reasonably priced too. Showers super hot and lovely pressure. Spa gorgeous and indoor pool and gym for workouts before leveda walks and delightful cuisine in and around Funchal itself. The family can't wait to come back amazing memories made. Thank you Ps if your room is mountain view be warned it faces very busy road and noisy.

I should start by saying this was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in and that is a massive plus point for me. The whole hotel was absolutely spotless. Check in was a bit difficult as they requested my hotel voucher from Jet2 even though they had our passports and could see we had a booking. In the end I had to locate it via the app and email it to the hotel. I’m not sure if this is a Jet2 thing or a hotel specific thing as this is the first time I’ve travelled with Jet2 or to Madeira, but I’ve never needed a printed voucher before? We paid for an upgrade to sea view and were allocated a room on floor 3, the balcony faced the sea but had a massive palm tree obstructing the sea view, which was a massive down point, this in my view should have been a partial sea view room. Great free bus service to Funchal, really easy to book and use. Breakfast was ok, ate lunch once at the pool bar and it was great. Didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening. The bar had a good menu and some nice cocktails, it was table service in the evening and was a bit slow when it was busy. One night they got our order completely wrong. All things considered I would stay here again but make sure if I paid for a sea view my room had a full sea view.

I can’t fault this lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious with very comfy beds. We had a fantastic sea view with a good sized balcony. The food is great whether you are at the breakfast or evening buffet or the Italian restaurant. The pool is fab with lots of beds that aren’t snatched early on. There is a sun deck/bar that has entertainment every night for a couple of hours. Staff are friendly and hard working. There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby and the taxi to the city is only 9 Euro. Buses are frequent but busy and the hotel has a free shuttle bus at set times. This isn’t a particularly child friendly hotel which is why I chose it. It is really for families with older children or adults only. There are no children’s facilities.

This hotel I would rate 10/10. All the staff were lovely and very friendly, and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean and bright. The breakfast buffet was amazing, so much choice, catering for everyones needs. We went during the euros, my husband is a massive football fan and enjoyed the banter with the bar staff. Big shout out to the cleaning ladies who were all very friendly and lovely, and kept our rooms nice and clean daily. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary while there and the hotel made it special for us by leaving chocolate coated strawberries in our room with a selection of chocolates and a nice bottle of sparkling wine.
