Madeira Regency Club

We stayed here in early January for 8 days and really enjoyed our stay. We had an Ocean Room on the fifth floor and it was great with a balcony and sea view. The room was immaculate, quiet and very comfortable. The lighting can be dark but fine for reading etc. Breakfasts were very good with a great selection of food and drinks. We ate our meals locally and in Funchal, as there are so many super restaurants. The hotel staff were always helpful and we had a great experience and holiday. The hotel is very near everything in Funchal and within walking distance of the port and Old Town. We are a couple in our 60’s and did not feel out of place staying at The Next and will definitely return again. The only negative is the music in the lift which is clearly aimed at a different audience and very repetitive!

Sorry I wasn’t able to speak to you in person during this visit . The hotel is in a great location with excellent views . The breakfast although rather dark not the best room is perfect. You can ask for eggs to be cooked fresh and it is never a problem the staff are very helpful and polite. There is an excellent choice in the buffet. This time we only had lunch once and that was also excellent and reasonably priced by the pool. In all we love the Next Hotel and hope to be back next year. We came for New Year’ Eve and although full it never felt too busy. Aden waiter during breakfast and Lucy our cleaner deserve a special mention ,they always spoke to us and did an excellent job. A really great hotel for all age groups.

The staff are the best thing about this hotel everyone went over and above board. The rooms are fine for the money but poor lighting, as with the lifts and breakfast room. It wasn’t very Christmassy either which was disappointing. Think this is trying to cater for the younger end but don’t think the concept was working, the dj in the rooftop bar was playing to an audience of none. Location very good, short walk to some excellent restaurants and soon in to the centre of Funchal.
