THIS PLACE DESERVES A -10 STAR RATING!! Where to even begin… Upon pulling up to this hotel, I had already made my mind up that we would not be staying the night, but the boyfriend had already paid for three nights upfront without reading the reviews in a quick trip down to see his family. HUGE MISTAKE. The hotel is not well lit outside with busted down vehicles parked out front and it’s eerily dark and quiet. I waited inside the (locked) vehicle while he went in to see about our room. The appearance of the woman who helped him was dressed incredibly unprofessional and not well groomed, to put it nicely. When he came back outside he said let’s just go check out the room and if we don’t like it we can leave. Firstly, the outside doors to the rooms are not locked, anyone can enter. The hotel reeks of mildew and cigarette smoke. We tried getting into the room and it was barricaded from the inside somehow, the green light of the card reader was flashing, but either someone was inside our room or the door was broken. While this was going on I witnessed an actual drug deal in the hallway, a drug deal! There was a man a couple of doors down selling ***** to someone staying at the hotel. (Needless to say we got out of there and stayed at the local Baymont for the entirety of our stay.) The Amerihost employee said they would have the manager “Sam” call us the next morning. The next morning comes and goes and we stop by to see about our over $400 refund. The employee there said they issued a refund and did not give us a receipt. The same man also said “I heard you witnessed that drug deal last night. I don’t care if they do it, as long as they don’t hurt anyone”. I was in pure disbelief at this point, I didn’t think it could get much worse. Five days later and roughly 10 phone calls between the two of us, the manager has yet to return a single phone call. Thank goodness my bf has an amazing bank who just reimbursed us for this fraudulent and unprofessional business. If his bank hadn’t of worked with us, we would have taken them to small claims or contacted local authorities. They wouldn’t even provide us with a receipt showing the refund they claimed they issued. They TEXT me a message from a WhatsApp number that I couldn't understand. This is a weak excuse for a "manager", one who leaves their employees to deal with complaints because they don't want to deal with them...and I imagine they get a LOT. Do not patronize this hotel. This is a seriously sketchy hotel and unlike anything I have ever experienced in the hospitality industry. I cannot fathom running a hotel (a place where people are supposed to have a sense of security away from their homes) and acknowledging illegal and unsafe behavior and expecting my customers to deal with it. I cannot understand how they are in business. Surely the local police know what goes on here, they need to be shut down ASAP. Please stay at the local Baymont or Holiday Inn express in town! ***UPDATE*** It has been
