Good Karma Inn

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Good Karma Inn for 2 nights. What a beautiful lodge and the view is absolutely spectacular. Very warm and inviting, but secluded enough to enjoy the quiet country side. I just wanted to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. The owner Mike is an added bonus. He's takes great pride in ensuring his guests have the best experience possible. We had our fishing charter cancelled due to high winds. As soon as I got back to the lodge Mike sat down and started making calls with me to find something else to do for the day. It was great appreciated having someone that not only knew the area and who to call, but also cared enough to spend the time doing it. We will be back. Thank you again Mike. Shane and Elizabeth

Good Karma Inn is aptly named. Michael was a wonderful host and we felt very relaxed and taken care of as his guests. He gave us helpful tips on where to go and what to do in Homer. His breakfasts were outstanding and the accommodations were spotless, spacious, and with great views. We only wish we had carved out more time to explore the area and enjoy the wonderful hospitality at Good Karma.

We stayed four nights in the Wisdom room. The room has an outside deck and views of the bay and glaciers. Our room was very large with a king size bed. Michael gave us great recommendations for places to dine and visit. This will be the first place we look for any future stays in Homer. We really enjoyed our conversations with Michael and fell like we made a friend. I thank him for making this a very relaxing and memorable stay.

Full transparency: we did not actually stay at Good Karma Inn even though we had booked a 3-night stay. Our kids stayed there earlier in the week and decided to move out after one night. (They had booked a 2-night stay.) Their rationale for doing so will be described in their review. However, the information that they gave us about the inn made us feel concerned about staying there. One of those concerns was the lack of black-out curtains. Since Alaska stays light until 11pm in the summer and the sun comes up quite early, we knew that we would not sleep well. When we called the host, Michael, to cancel, he told us to read the cancellation policy and then he hung up on us. We reviewed the policy and called back. He told us that he would refund our payment if he was able to rent the room. This sounded reasonable to us; we understand that this is his business. The hanging up on us, however, was harsh and unnecessary. The room was not rented and Michael let us know that he would not be providing a refund. In his text, he made reference to our daughter "panicking and doing us no favors". His commentary was completely unnecessary and mean-spirited. In the world of customer service, such opinions are best left unexpressed. Although we took a loss, we ended up having a WONDERFUL stay on the tip of the Homer Spit at a lovely hotel with an extremely accomodating front desk staff. We loved Homer and highly recommend this quaint town!

Wonderful stay!! We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and had a great time! Michael was very inviting and his breakfast was delicious and home cooked every morning. Great tips on what to do/eat/see in Homer. We had a great time also just chatting with him and other guests. Incredible view from the deck, and the pillows are perfect.
