Hotel molto bello, curato e tutto nuovo.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. Natalia (reception desk) was very rude. She asked my wife and I if we wanted to buy breakfast for the next day. When we declined she appeared to be very displeased and actually irritated at our decision. When she was showing us our room she mentioned that there are chocolates and water in the fridge, and coffee pods for the Nespresso machine for us. She did not use the word “included” or “complimentary” so, I asked if the coffee was “included”. She appeared upset, looked straight in my eyes, and in an angry tone said “I ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT THIS WAS INCLUDED!” I have been a physician since 1986, and as such I consider myself to be very proficient in the field of customer service. Her response to my simple clarification question was unacceptable. It upset me so much that it affected the rest of my day. Other things to note: no Air Conditioning, no English-speaking channels on TV, there are very loud church bells from nearby Eglise-St. Jean periodically, and the check-in desk closed at 16:00 on the Sunday that we checked in. At check out we met a different person and explained dissatisfaction with our stay. She was apologetic and seemed genuinely compassionate. If you choose to stay here I hope that Natalia is in a good mood when you check in.

Our recent visits (the first time with a small group of friends, the second time as a couple) to this hotel were both very pleasant: very friendly welcome (the first time on the terrace, as reception, restaurant and kitchen were under renovation!), speedy check-in. The rooms were recently renovated, are extraordinarily spacious ('grande', 'immense', 'géante'), very comfortable and well thought out and furnished with high-quality materials (beds, bedding, bath towels, furniture). In the bathroom, a little stronger lighting and a grab bar by the bathtub would be a welcome help. Breakfast can be taken either in the restaurant or on the small terrace (on slightly small tables). The varied, very beautifully presented selection is really above average and of a high quality. As mentioned, the restaurant was unfortunately closed for renovation, otherwise we would have loved to visit it too. The De La Clef restaurant nearby, recommended by the hotel, was a good alternative. The young staff were all very friendly, cheerful and very keen to do everything right. Two really pleasant stays - thanks and congratulations to the management.

Hotel near the center using bus (number 4 from the covered station lane 12) or the car, on foot it would be an unthinkable climb. We spent 572 francs for two nights, even though we left in the evening after just one night. We were assigned the Josiane apartment on the fourth floor without a lift, ancient narrow wooden steps. The apartment is on the attic, upon entering there is another steep staircase, then there is a kitchen open to the living room, a corridor with a small bathroom with shower (no bidet). then a kind of storage room under the roof that was impracticable. The bed was located on an open mezzanine which can be reached by yet another staircase. Only skylight type windows, most of them blocked, we only managed to open one folding type... it turned out to be an oven, very hot! It was 25 degrees outside, I can't imagine if it had been 35. Quick check in, very few details, practically zero explanations. In the house there were only two medium towels, one small one and a bathroom mat. No hairdryer. Minimum crockery in the kitchen, no salt or oil available to the customer. A sheet is given which lists unacceptable surcharges for having the apartment cleaned more than once a week. Plus a series of "threatening fines" for everything. Meanwhile, there was an unhygienic stain in the fridge. Not thorough cleaning behind the furniture dust and crumbs. The spiral staircase to go up to the mezzanine is steep and slippery. At night, unable to sleep due to the heat, I went downstairs with my socks on and fell, I twisted my ankle but it could have been worse. I didn't see any explanation with the emergency numbers, I thought of foreign travelers who don't necessarily know our emergency numbers. In addition to the very high price, if you want breakfast it is another 22 francs each. In my opinion, their luck is that after COVID there are very few hotels left in Friborg. In short, it will also be suggestive to see but I don't recommend it.
