Travelers Beware. They gave us a 2nd floor room and stated they had no 'baggage carts' (seemed perplexed that we needed one). There were no working elevators. Reluctantly they changed the room to a 1st floor ADA handicap room (not needed or requested). The room had unclean floors and walls, the bathroom door had an unrepaired splintered frame and knob, the bathroom floor had crusty filth and staining on the floor. The sink was cracked and unsanitary. The bedding was soiled. The room and hall had a very bad smell that registered only after a few hours' immersion: a hidden dead animal or recent corpse discovery.

Well… with few budget friendly options to choose from this is where we stayed to sleep. Driving into Portland from Bar Harbor we realized hotels in Portland were crazy expensive so had to try to find somewhere to stay in Brunswick or Freeport. The hotel is off the highway on a kind of darkly lit road. Like others have said, when you walk in your met with a very strong cleaner scent. Check in was easy and we booked through ******* for $175. After getting our keys and going into our room we were met with this somewhat fishy smell that we knew we wouldn’t be able to stand overnight. We went back to the front desk and the lady moved us to a different room. This new room still had a smell but it wasn’t as bad and could be covered with some perfume. The room was dusty, the tv was super small and there weren’t many outlets. A plus was there was an additional sink outside the bathroom with made getting ready at night easier. The bed and pillows weren’t anything special. We also had an uneven amount of towels and one of the wash clothes was stained. Honestly if there are cheaper options to stay at I would choose those but if you don’t have anywhere else to go it’s okay for a night but nothing longer.

First impression upon arrival was slightly off putting as the hotel's exterior looked a bit aged and tired to me. The hotel looked older, there were no cars on the lot when I arrived and some of the vegetation was a bit overgrown. But upon entering I found a very friendly front desk person and check-in was fast and easy. Inside, the interior is utilitarian but seems to be clean and well outfitted. Guest room #112 was clearly fairly recently renovated and was clean. All the typical amenities including large flat screen TV, microwave, mini fridge, iron and board. Plenty of task lighting and charging ports, good mattress with soft pillows. Shower had very good water pressure. Overall, I was surprised by the room only because it seemed to have garnered more attention than the exterior. Continental breakfast was included. The fee was about $150/night.

Immediately when we walked in there's a pungent smell of air freshener like lemon pledge. Which makes me suspicious that they're trying to cover of the smell of something. The room itself was ok but the pillows were horrible. The next morning we were abruptly awoken by the deafening fire alarm. After 30 min it finally turned off. We then went for the free breakfast and realized someone had burnt their toast and that's what caused the alarm. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. They had a few cold hard boiled eggs in the fridge, yogurt, apples , cereal, bananas and bread that we were scared to toast. It was ok because we were breaking up our trip to Boston but otherwise we would have chosen something else.

This hotel is WAY overpriced for what it is. Very dated. Extremely strong odour from the minute you walk in the door. Room is dusty, looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Would not recommend staying here, and will not be returning.

Absolutely fantastic place for price. Sony at the desk was extra accommodating. The location is great with pretty grounds. Wonderful beds. Delicious breakfast. AC very strong and quiet. Only negative is lots of chipping in sink and no hair conditioner or lotion.

I booked this hotel by mistake! I thought I was booking the Casco Bay hotel in South Portland and if I hadn't pre-paid I wouldn't have gone here. STAY AWAY from this place! It is absolutely the worst, and I am not kidding! You would be better off sleeping in your car! First of all, the minute you walk into the lobby you will know you made a huge mistake. It smells like piss being covered up with lemon disinfectant. The room smelled even worse. The toilet leaked and the sink was so dirty. The TV is the size of a postage stamp. The fact that they charged me $250 to stay for the night is criminal. They refused to give a discount or move to a different room. The positive reviews are either fake or they meant to leave the review under the Casco Bay Hotel in South Portland!

STAY AWAY!!! $220 down the drain. The room we were given smelled like someone urinated all over the carpets. We immediately asked for another room which was barely tolerable. Smells like mildew, baking soda, and lemon pledge. Not bringing our bags in for fear of the smell permeating them. Thinking about sleeping in the car with the family and eating the cost. You better pray to god. P.S. No one at front desk for 10 minutes

The room was ok however when entering the hallway there was a horrible disinfectant/baking soda smell. It permeated into the room, I opened the window but that didn’t help. Skip the breakfast if that’s what you want to call it. Cleaning crew was friendly.
