SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh Mills

Service struggled with large guest volume for Steelers opener, Pitt homecoming, USHL tournament - housekeeping was supposed to be alternating days but we didn't have any service the entire 4 night stay (linens, emptying trash, etc.). The room state even when we arrived was also sketchy (toilets not completely clean). Breakfast offerings were also more limited than other Spring Hill properties (no fruit, oatmeal, yogurts). We stayed here several years ago and the overall quality drop-off is noticeable.

The carpet in the (all) common areas needs to be replaced. It’s worn and stained and past it’s expiration date. Not bad location. Breakfast is normal fare for hotel like this. Staff was good. Rooms clean and good size. Didn’t feel price was consistent with location or condition of property. Higher than expected.

Called around 10:30 PM, apologized for calling that late and requested a plunger to be brought up/if I could come grab it. Front Desk associate said that “she was the only one down there” and that “she was leaving in 20 minutes” and then hung up on me. Room was otherwise nice and clean, and check-in prior was also very easy.

It is exactly what you would expect from a spring bill suites. The rooms are nice. They are well kept up. The staff is good. Kristina at the front desk especially and the girl that takes care of breakfast too. Both excellent. But the owners should know that it is legal to raise the temperature of water in a swimming pool above freezing. Someone should tell them, because that pool is too cold and it lessens the quality of the stay. Heat up the damn pool. This review would be a 5 if they did.

Clean, well -located property. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The large Pittsburg Mills Mall appears to be within walking distance. Eat n Park restaurant is in the parking lot. The room is called a studio suite. Odd angles that create a nice size working space with two sofas. Not enough drawer and closet space for long term stays. Breakfast was below average for a Marriott. Scrambled eggs every day with sausage 2 days and bacon one day. Two kinds of cold cereal, packaged waffles to put in the toaster. Skelton staff. Our phone calls to the desk as well as personal visits met with no one there. You can choose housekeeping every other day or none at all. We chose every other day but it never happened. One elevator was out of service for one week which made for long waits. Wouldn’t stay here again because of the lack of service combined with the price.

Stayed here on a recent Friday night for the first time, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Our 4th floor room was remarkably quiet, despite the fact that a hockey team was staying over the same night. The room was clean as well - no complaints whatsoever to that end. My only complaint is a common one - in a room with a king sized bed, why am I not provided with king sized pillows?! The only thing anyone wants in an overnight hotel stay is a good night's sleep. But with miniature, uncomfortable, foam rubber pillows, it's tough to get through the night. I'll never understand this. I don't need a table and chairs or an upholstered footstool in my room. Just give me comfortable fluffy pillows; that's all I ask. Ugh.

For years we didn't try this SpringHill Suites location because it was just about 5 miles farther than the comparable hotels in Harmarville down the highway. We are glad we tried it for 4 nights over the holidays. The staff (all of them) are great in this location. Upon check-in (in the evening), the front desk staff is very helpful and courteous. We know hotel tends to be short-staffed during the holidays, and asked to change up our housekeeping schedule from what's standard rotation. Both times, they did it perfectly. The breakfast staff was great. The housekeeping staff was great. Just overall a positive/service oriented place. The hotel facility is a bit on the older side, but the rooms are large. In the double queen suite, after the sofa bed is fully pulled out, there's plenty of room to walk around. Anyway, personally, we think this is a better value (consistently cheaper) and better service than either TownePlace (also Marriot) and Hampton Inn in Harmarville, and given the location of being in the middle of Pittsburgh Mills shopping/mall, it's worth the extra 5 min/5 mile drive. Thumbs up!

Visiting family for Christmas. Desk staff very pleasant and welcoming. Clean and updated throughout. The mattresses are among the lowest quality I have seen at a Marriott. Thin, and small. This would be something to think about for an extended stay.
