Fantastic little place with fantastic service and breakfast. The best place to stay in Franschhoek absolutely. Karloff was sensational and treated us fantastic. Very nice rooms and courtyard with a pool for relaxing. Will hope to be back soon!

From the moment we arrived for our three day stay in Franschhoek right up to the complimentary sandwiches just prior to our leaving for the airport, Karloff and the team could not do enough for us to make our trip truly memorable. On the day we arrived I was having some stomach problems and Karloff was immediately on the phone lining up a restaurant that could accommodate my need for a bland diet that evening. We also needed to confirm our reservation at one of Franschhoek's finest restaurants with a prepayment which did not go through. Again Karloff was on the phone using his influence to assure the restaurant would honour our booking. Avondrood is a member of The Oyster Collection of boutique hotels and guest houses. As such, it is run to the highest standard. However what sets it apart is the genuine and helpful attitude of every staff member we met. OAbsolur room was comfortable and stylishly appointed and the breakfasts were copious and original and everyday included a delicious home-baked treat. There was always someone available to offer tips and ideas about what to see and do in Franschhoek and to arrange a driver whenever needed. If you're planning a trip to the area, don't miss the opportunity to stay at the Avondrood Guest House.

The place is amazing! We got very warm welcoming and our stay was just terrific. Thanks to Karloff (best ever) we got our trip to be filled with super wine houses. We had agent to organise all but it was not good. Karloff saved our day by organising us to visit correct places to take maximum of our vacation! Place has very nice rooms, all you need + anything you need was there to enjoy! Breakfast were made right front of you and taste delicious! Thank you so much for all. Team that run the place were so nice- all of them!!!

Spent three nights at the Avondrood Guest House in Franchoek. We were greeted by Karloff , who was an excellent host through out our whole stay. From helping with bookings of restaurants to local transport he was amazing. Superb food , a great room and nice gardens . The pool was chilly but it's early in the season and was still nice to get a cooling dip. Good location for the wine tram and close to many local shops and restaurants too. Excellent Guest House, great staff and definitely recommend it . Thank you .

The friendliest and most helpful guest house ever. Truly delightful hosts, couldn’t have been better. Accommodation was great, lovely rooms, plenty of space, great bathrooms. Location perfect to explore the town and to get to the wine tram, which was an awesome experience of getting off and back on at the wineries. Beautiful guest house in a beautiful town. Highly recommend.

This is an exceptionally brilliant guest house, the staff are awesome and caring wanting to ensure your stay is exactly what you want. Karloff has great historical knowledge and is mega enthusiastic about ensuring you have a great time there. He even came to our restaurant to ensure we were having a good time. There was a portrait of his grandfather in the restaurant, he was immensely proud. Stay there you won’t be disappointed.

This js a great guest house with 8 guest suites; our group occupied four of them. We were graciously welcomed with a drink and shown to our rooms the rooms were spacious, well-appointed and very clean. The courtyard has seating to enjoy a quiet da or evening, along with a small outdoor pool to cool off. The sitting area in the main building has comfortable seating around a warm fire. There is also a small complimentary bar to relax and share tales of the days activities. In the mornings, there is a complimentary breakfast, which includes a nice selection of cereals, fruits, homemade breads and charcuterie. If you still have room the staff will prepare a hot breakfast of your choice. Then, we need to mention our host, Karloff. He is very outgoing, friendly and gracious. He also serves as a local historian and will provide great background of the area. Finally, the location is a 10 -15 minute walk to either end of town, easy access to the Wine Hop on/Hop off trolley and all of the town's shops and restaurants. If you are visiting the Franschhoek area, this is a great place to stay.

The place was amazing, rooms,location,food walking distance to great restaurants. the vibe was outstanding .Karloff the host, was the best. We have been in many places and would recommend the Avondrood to anyone. Franschhoek beautiful town,in south African wine country
