Having travelled extensively, it is a delight to experience this world class boutique hotel in an exquisite setting in Franschhoek, South Africa. Although so many special touches, the key differentiator is the staff - welcoming, helpful, thoughtful but never intrusive - simply amazing. We shall be back!

This is my second visit to Akademie Street and to be honest wish it was my 22nd. I’ve reflected on what makes Akademie street special and it is the attention to detail in every single of aspect of your stay. The rooms have so many lovely touches as does each of the communal spaces. This attention to detail continues to each and everyone of the guests, the staff are exceptional, going out their way to anticipate your needs and if you do ask for anything they are more than happy to help. Warm, welcoming, professional. When I am writing this I don’t think I have captured how special a place this is, Declan and team have simply thought of everything and make you feel like one of the family. My second visit and every bit as sorry to leave this time round. I will not leave as long for next visit.

We have stayed in a lot of hotels but none have the attention to detail as Akademie and the ability to make you feel like you’re the only one in the hotel. Declan made us feel like we were at home, but we never felt like he was around haha it was the best of both worlds. The location of Akademie is great, it’s a couple of streets back from the restaurants and bars so you don’t hear any noise in the rooms or the accommodation general areas. It’s very safe, we walked around at night after dinner and back to the accommodation with no issues. The true test of a great accommodation is would you go back, absolutely yes from me! From the moment we arrived at the hotel we simply loved this place. The welcome was incredibly friendly and the property itself was simply stunning. It was clear to see that everything in the public spaces, and in our room, had been put together with infinite care and thought. All the staff were simply wonderful and the level of service was as good as anything my wife and I have ever experienced. We would not hesitate in wholeheartedly recommending this hotel and we will most certainly be returning.

We had the pleasure of staying st Akademie, it was just perfect! From the beautiful room with all a person could possibly need, to the wonderful staff who assisted when we fancied a swim at 23h00 and fantastic food! Its walking distance from the main road. You will most definitely be seeing us again!!

Welcome is amazing . The place is perfect: very cosy , we feel like in the family house of a very good friend. Everything is lovely: room, old style bathroom but very confortable. Everyone working there is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is delicious. We cannot imagine a better place in Franschhoek.

Probably the best hotel experience I have ever had! Beautiful rooms, lovely ambiance. It really is a little piece of paradise. The staff were all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Please visit Declan and his team, you won’t be disappointed!
