The Blackboys Inn

The food was excellent. Lovely surroundings. The only thing that was not excellent was the service. We had to seek out a member of staff to place a dessert order quite some time after we had been given the dessert menu, as they didn’t come back and then again to get the bill.

We stayed for one night while attending the Burns Supper. The food was incredible, with wonderful service from the entire team. We stayed overnight in the accommodation and frankly the BEST mattress I’ve slept in on a trip! The room was super cute, set over two floors and very toasty and warm too. Breakfast was in the room, a great selection of cereals along with some excellent teas and coffees. Fresh milk in the little fridge made all the difference. Can’t recommend this little gem enough!

Sunday lunch. 2pm booked. Had items not available. Ice cream, beef, olives, prawns etc. A Sunday lunch service being limited should of left then. Sticky table, my jumper is now stained brown. Dirty cutlery we all had to clean dust off. Poor service with a rude waitress. She was so rude and was charged 10% for the privilege to have attitude and sarcasm. No drinks service offered during meal. Pulled Pork tasted of Chinese. Loin was in edible a bought in offering. String beans under cooked. Carrot over cooked. Roast potatoes under cooked. Chicken had an after taste of mint! Some plates had kale some didn't. Cold gravy on all. No sauces offered. Far better offerings available locally. Ladies toilets seat covered in urine. Reported staff didn't care. Waitress cleaning table behind sprayed chemicals on my daughters leg. Just looked at her and shrugged. Nice looking. Run by part time inexperienced staff Avoid.

Had to cancel due to covid. Despite having paid extra for the "free cancelation" option, couldn't get a refund due to a unexpected notice period. Check the small print with these guys, they'll hold you to it and obviously don't care about anything else. We have stayed here before - never again.
