It is very close to the trail for watching fireflies at night, only a 500-meter walk away. It is also very close to Lake Matheson and Fox Glacier Viewpoint by car, 10 minutes one way.

The room is small and basic;
There is no one at the front desk at 20:30, so it takes time to find a room when checking in at night;
Parking spaces are tight and you can't park at all at night, so you can only park on the roadside outside.

This wasn't not too bad until we found that one of the beds was full of hairs. Can only assume that the linen wasn't changed between guests. Maybe we were just unlucky, maybe it was only one bed out of our 4 beds but it made us feel pretty revolted. Don't find it till 11 pm otherwise would have complained.

Location very close to Fox Glacier. Despite being a hostel we booked a room with a private bathroom, small but functional. Large room. We did not use any services as we arrived in the late afternoon and left before dawn. Friendly welcome.
