Just been here with my wife on another of our jaunts around the inns of Worcester and Hereford. When we first started this journey I thought we were confining our experiences to Worcestershire but she added Hereford on to the list and having just been here I am so glad she did. As we live just outside of Worcester it took us about an hour to drive here and all I know is that without a Sat Nav I may never have found the place. It has a large car park outside and inside there are Tudor beams etc. A really beautiful old house, even without the food. We hadn't booked and by all accounts Sunday lunch is quite busy so anyone reading this needs to book in advance. We had Rabbit and Pistachio Rilette and Calamari for starters. The Calamari was small, not like the larger stuff you often see on some plates and my wife said the Rilette (Pate for the uninitiated) was fantastic. It came in a glass jar accompanied with thick toast and she said it was flaky and beautiful with an accompanying chutney. In her words, it was fantastic. We then had the mains. She had Chicken with Potato Anna and bacon and cabbage cream sauce while I had the fish and chips with peas and garlic mayonnaise. Some of the best fish and chips I had eaten for a while and my wife said her food was absolutely delicious. Obviously, we had to have a dessert and I had the Chocolate Torte with Raspberry Ice Cream while she had the staff recommendation of Sticky Toffee pudding. My wife finished hers long before I ate mine and she said it was some of the best dessert she had eaten in ages. In summary, the pub looks magnificent, the food was wonderfully cooked and wonderfully presented and the service was a treat. In my view, one of the best meals in Hereford and Worcestershire that I have ever had and we have lived here over 20 years. When the bill came if was just over £80 which included a Diet Coke for my wife and a pint of lager shandy for me. Finally, a note for anyone reading this who may live in the area. Get out there and visit this place for a decent meal. While we were there the staff were serving cream teas and sandwiches as well, for a reasonable sum. Might have that next time we're in the area. In summary, definitely a place to visit and spend some cash. If you're in the area and you miss it, you will regret it.

Called in on spec on the way back from a hospital appointment. We don’t usually go that way but we thought we’d take a chance. We had a lovely welcome from Mandy who recommended the fish and chips. Now we usually avoid this choice as we have had some bad experiences with fish and chips elsewhere. However Mandy waxed lyrical about it so we decided to take a chance, but now our expectations were high. I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips we have ever had anywhere. The fish was literally melting with freshness, the batter was thin and delicate. The crushed peas had mint and a touch of lemon and the tartar sauce was home made and delicious. I was too full to eat more than a few o& the thick cut home made chips but they were also spot on. There was also a grilled or seared half lemon. I think you can tell we’re mightily impressed, even my super fussy husband. The bar was also immaculately clean and comfortable with beams and an old world charm. Apparently it’s been a coaching house since the eighteenth century. Will certainly be making a return visit to try something else on the menu.

A good hotel and staying on a Sunday great value for money. Checked in 8pm so wasn’t in the room long. Everything you need in there - bathroom modern and clean. Staff throughout were very nice and helpful. Went for a drink downstairs in the pub which was good. Would have to say my room had a smell not bad enough to complain but was definitely there. Overall good hotel great value for money.

Delicious dinner, comfortable and cosy atmosphere and good service from all of the staff. Everything was well cooked and presented - we ordered the beef burger and chicken - would highly recommend both. Good selections of wines and beer too.

Excellent group meal in the private dining room The booking was easy and all 20 meals arrived perfectly. It was a busy night in the bar and restaurant, along with our group in the private room, but amazing service from Andy and the team. Excellent food, beautiful place. Will definitely return

Not good Stayed previously and had a lovely stay, this stay was absolutely the opposite. The room (room 2) was awful. It was cramped, no desk to work at, the bed was on a slope so couldn't sleep well, and the road noise was unbearable. The welcome by the manager was hostile at best. The staff in the restaurant were good, but the food quite poor really. I won't stay there again.
