Loved it. The harbour views were so beautiful from our room (room 12) and the restaurant with outdoor area. Our booking included dinner and breakfast - both excellent. The location is great. All in all, Fowey (pronounced Foy) does indeed = Joy.

Went for a meal with friends who were staying at the hotel. They were pleased with the hotel itself, and the food was excellent! Most of us had the crab tagliatelle, which was fabulous! Would definitely dine there again!

Spent one night at this hotel. It has great points and not so good. Our bedroom was spacious and modern with terrific views.Bathroom was good size. The hotel stairs were thread bare in parts, needed a clean and IMO replaced. There was work being done in the hotel so workmen coming and going.Do think this should be done in the quieter months. We were irritated the breakfast was so late,8:30 am.We are early risers,up at 6:00 am that morning which meant waiting well over 2 hours to eat.Our cooked breakfast was delicious albeit my husband’s cooked breakfast was not what he had asked for (waitress apologised).Biggest complaint was the coffee. It came in a cafetière already plunged!(I later found out this is due to health &safety which is crazy). The coffee was so weak I couldn’t drink it and had a cappuccino instead. It would also be sensible for the waitress to take the customers drink orders as soon as they sit down and not have to wait for her to take someone’s food and drink order and then go and get them.

Lovely charming hotel in the centre of Towey. The worst part is dropping luggage, parking etc. Once you are in the hotel it's great. So central and perfect for exploring with a nice terrace for drinks and a decent restaurant. Breakfast was very good and staff were great!

We come back here time and time again! But my first review so l'm sorry. Sometimes we've visited with the boat, and used the moorings, or other times taking the ferry over. The service here is second to none, nothing is ever too much trouble. We sat outside admiring the riverside courtyard with a bottle of wine. Then brought into our table when we were ready for starters. No rush and felt like vip guests. Lobster was amazing and so is the crab sandwich.

Overall Old Quay House is a very nice hotel. I wish I had stayed in a room with a seaview because I think it might have been more comfortable and potentially had more of a breeze. I had trouble sleeping in my room because of a lack of a breeze. It was very hot. I was in England for three weeks and this was the only room I really struggled to sleep in, though the bed was comfortable. The bathroom in the room was amazing and I didn't want to get out of the shower. The restaurant has outstanding food! It's a small restaurant with good service so book ahead.

Clean, cosy, friendly hotel with beautiful views of the estuary. The outdoor seating off the restaurant is wonderful!

Stayed in room overlooking town. To be honest the room was nice but would benefit from some decor touch ups. Arrived in mini heat wave and no air- con or at least a good quality room fan in our room. It was very uncomfortable and had to have the windows open which meant peace was disturbed early morning. Also expected a mini fridge but none in our room. Two beautiful sash windows but blinds were odd and one had Roman blind and the other was obviously missing as there was a pelmet on both. Radiator in bathroom on permanently making the room even more uncomfortable heat wise.breakdast on day 2 was interrupted by workmen trudging through the room to get to the decking over the river - they sat and had coffee and toast for half an hour before bringing through parasol bases whilst people were still eating. We left after 2 nights of a 5 night booking and I have to say the manager and receptionist were very understanding and we were grateful.

The location of the hotel was perfect - very central. There was a mix up with Secret Escape and we were given a classic room instead of a superior room with water view. So that was disappointing , but not the fault of the hotel. The Classic room was adequate - loads of storage - the most I have seen in any hotel. The bathroom was very big as well with lots of drawers to put away toiletries. The two receptionists who were on duty during our stay were both amazing - very pleasant and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first evening - the food was very good, but only one server for the 7 tables of diners. But he coped well considering.
