Big problem, the hotel made me pay when I arrived, so I had to pay twice

Une expérience déplorable – à fuir absolument ! Nuit du 19 au 20 Juillet 2025 Arrivés vers 3h du matin, nous avons été très surpris par le tarif affiché : 70,50 € (taxe de séjour incluse), alors qu’on nous recommande sèchement d’aller plutôt à l’hôtel Première Classe voisin, à 42 € la nuit... Ambiance ! Le choc ne s’est pas arrêté là : Accueil glacial et peu professionnel Odeur de renfermé dès l’entrée Moquette détrempée juste avant la salle de bain Insectes morts (et pas d’hier…) Peinture douteuse couleur moisissure Salle de bain entartrée, visiblement pas entretenue Pas de télévision Je vous laisse juger par les photos, mais âmes sensibles s’abstenir. Nous ne remettrons plus jamais les pieds ici.

Stayed here many times over the years. A good place to stay if you've just come just off Eurotunnel or on the way to. Always a pleasant reception who speaks English but we tend to converse in French. The rooms are always clean and spacious (for the price). We had our terrier with us. Never a problem with parking space. A good value for money stopover. We arrived earlier than usual so walked into Bethune centre for the first time. Worth a visit with some interesting architecture. This was a Fete weekend so lots going on in the centre including a rock concert! We ate in the centre as we noticed the Campanile had reduced its evening meals service to a few specific days in the week. A shame because we've always enjoyed our evening meal at the Campanile. I'm sure we'll be back again as long as we and our car keep going!
