Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Fort Wayne

I booked a 2 night stay at Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Fort Wayne, through Trip.com August 29, 2025 for a conference. I called the hotel to see if I could get early check-in, and was told to "just come in at 2:30 PM" which was half an hour earlier than check-in time of 3:00 PM. I tried to give the my booking information, but she just asked for my name, and the time I would get there. The day before my 3 1/2 hour drive, I was getting directions from the website and saw a notice in red lettering that state THIS SITE IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED. I immediately called the hotel number on my confirmation page for further inquiry and clarification, the man at the front desk said they were not closed, just name change, but just come on in. I could see the place looked like a seedy dump motel when I pulled in, but once inside I was horrified! Man at the desk said he did not have a reservation for me, but that I could go look at the rooms they had, and rent one of them. I was there to attend a 2 day women's conference of 7 thousand attendees, plus staff, there were no rooms available, anywhere less than 45 minutes away. So, I attempted to look at a room, when I saw one room door open, someone was trying to clean it up, it was dirty, disgusting. Of course I said that I would rather sleep in my car, and left. There were at least 3 other people going through the same dilemma as I was. One customer was so angry, she was yelling and using foul language, another was storming out of the lobby, telling somebody coming in that this place was uninhabitable for humans. I did contact Trip.com to advise of the situation. This business is deceptive, making the public they are booking with Wyndham, but you are not. BE WARE!!

My mom and I booked this hotel to attend the Vera Bradley sale that was supposed to go on May 1-3. but had found out that it was cancelled after we had checked in. The room smelled bad. There were no trash cans in the room, no soap for washing hands and only one wash rag and towel even though we reserved a room for two people. The microwave above the range had a broken handle and did not open. The staff was kind enough to have maintenance bring a countertop microwave. We ended up checking out the same day we checked in since the sale was cancelled, so I cannot review the bed that was in the room or whether or not they had any breakfast items in the morning. I probably won't book here again even though the staff was nice, and it was a decent price for a weekend stay.

This was terrible. Terrible. I was desperate to make a last-minute reservation, so I didn't check reviews beforehand. The first room they gave me, the light switch by the door didn't work, but the kitchenette light was on. Somehow the light did not reach past the kitchenette, possibly being swallowed by the nearness of the gates to that I'm convinced was inches away, hidden in the gloom. However, the light was enough to see that the ceiling of the kitchenette was on the floor. And the place reeked as if 12 chain smokers were trapped inside for a week, so they smoked and smoked while feasting on the mound of mildew that had to be somewhere in the room. I'm a former smoker and was still repulsed by the foul odor. Back at the front desk, they say they have another room, but the bedding is in the wash. I say fine, I have an errand to run, so I'll come back in an hour or so. I return over an hour later, and the stained mattress covered bed still has no sheets, but at least there is no evidence of bed bugs (that is literally the best I can say about this place). I go back to the front desk, tell them there are still no sheets or blankets and that I don't think the room has been cleaned (did I mention the dirt on the floor or the sticky circles on the tables?). I say I have another errand to run and will be back in an hour. I come back and my key card doesn't work. Back to the front desk for a new key. I've hit the character limit and can't finish. Someone call the Board of Health.

Did you want toilet paper? Or a door that stays closed? Or an AC unit with broken or missing knobs? This is the "hotel" for you! As a bonus, you can find all the disgusting things you've ever wanted at this "hotel!" The photos are lies. If you go in expecting to sleep in a disease-ridden dumpster, then you're good to go! But if you want a clean room where you feel safe, this isn't the place. I cannot believe ******* even lists this "hotel" on its site. Hey, *******! You may wanna check the pics YOU ARE HOSTING vs the reality of the real world location. Nasty. Avoid. Even if there are no other hotels available. AVOID THIS TRASH PILE!

This is not the name any more. The name has been painted over and the place is disgusting. Kicking myself for not turning around and checking out. Place was in disrepair. Sorta clean. Towels had holes. I Def wouldnt work there as a manager or anything else.

I wish I could leave a lesser star than a one. My clients checked into this location to a dirty room late in the evening with no one there to accommodate the situation. The next day upon complaining they still were not accommodated, room was never cleaned and they stayed there for over 2 weeks. No heat in the room which was never addressed, no hot water in the upstairs shower which was never addressed. Window in the room at ground level was off track and was never addressed. Hallways were filthy. Upon complaints, my clients were never able to speak to a manager nor the owner. My clients were working out a night shift at the local GM plant and two different times were locked out of their rooms upon returning at 3:00 in the morning and we're never accommodated for that situation either. Do not use this hotel. I repeat. Do not use this hotel.
