Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Walton Beach Hurlburt Area

We stayed at this Holiday Inn last week and had a difficult time. I do not recommend this hotel because of the following reasons: 1. This location is a long way from many of the reasons that people go to this area. You have to drive for miles to get to many of the eating and vacationing places on the beach - not much real close! 2. Even though this is a fairly new building, we had trouble with NOISE most of the night. I think that the building was made cheaply, and you could hear noise from other rooms - like walking around upstairs, hall ways, MECHANICAL NOISES, etc, etc. This kept us up most of the night (I called the front desk twice). 3. While getting ready for check out, we had room service walk in on us. We had not checked out, and it was still early (8:00 AM). THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS PERSON TO BE IN OUR ROOM AT THIS TIME!! 4. Location, location, location............ stay close to the beach. On a positive note, breakfast was good, parking was decent, & staff was friendly. After saying all of that, I still WOULD NOT stay here again - no way. * I do like other Holiday Inns, and stayed at a different one the next night!

Nice and new, good sleep quality and friendly service. I'd liked to have rated higher, but in comparison with other Holiday Inn Express properties they didn't quite meet standards. Breakfast area was ok, didn't have hard boiled eggs and cereal bowls were too small. Didn't offer an late afternoon/evening snack (cookies or popcorn)...if management is reading, it's the small things that make a huge difference. And it took a long time for the hot water to get going in the morning for shower and shaving. These small things get improved and it would be an excellent property.

Clean and quiet. We got a call from the front desk that our walking around was too loud for another guest below us though. The room was nice enough. Breakfast is typical hotel breakfast. The kids enjoyed the pancake machine. There was a hilarious sign on the outdoor pool warning not to swim if you have diarrhea. If you have to stay in FWB this is a good bet.

This was the worst customer service attitude of any Holiday Inn experience I have had in a long time. Room was dirty , no hot water, no one at front desk any time I went up there. Arrived at 1:30 PM which I knew was early but we had just traveled 800 miles. Was hoping they had a clean room available. He would not even check. When we did come back did not get a smile a thank you, just a lot of grump. I get everyone is short handed and I try to be accommodating for the times we are in right now. But if I can smile while paying $180 for an old dirty room with no hot water they can at least smile back

From check in to check out this was the worst stay I have ever had at an IHG hotel!! Requested early check in, confirmation showed check in at 3pm, we did not account for time change when we planned our trip. We got to the hotel at 1:42 local time, at 11:52 that day I had already received my welcome amenity points as I'm a rewards member. The lady at the front desk was rude and let me know that she tried to run my credit card that morning before we got there. I use Capital One and have fraud alerts set up so that you can't run my card until it's actually swiped at the location for hotels, resorts, etc. when this was explained to the clerk, she got hateful and said I needed to swipe my card right now and that she would put my room on priority to get cleaned for check in, maybe 30-45 minutes, that she would call me when the room was ready. So I allowed her to swipe my card and charge me, yet I didn't get to check into my room until 3:55pm. My stay preferences were not looked at. The room was clean enough, but found bobby pins and hair ties on both sides of the bed. This hotel is definitely geared towards families with small children. Don't get in the way of the kids activities as you might get stepped on by the workers. To top off this awful stay, My credit card was overcharged $403.20 for my FREE Rewards night stay. When I questioned the manager on duty I was first told it was a computer glitch, then when I asked her who did this, she went and brought out a young lady who told me that she made the charges to my card as human error and that she immediately reversed the charges to my card. I spent the better part of an hour on the phone with Capital One to be told that no, the charges were not reversed that they were very much still showing as a lodging hold. I gave Capital One authorization to contact the hotel as the manager said I could do, and still 72 hours later, the charges are still on my account...

This is your typical HI Express. The location is good for shopping and restaurants, not good for the beach. It's getting a little tired and needs a few improvements and updates. But overall it's not a bad place to stay.
