La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ft Lauderdale Cypress Cr

The stay began with a very warm and friendly welcome from Rachel, the desk clerk. It was nice to arrive and be treated like a valued family member. The feel of the property is that it’s updated and extremely clean. The room itself was large and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable, as well. Everything (tv, microwave, etc.) worked as expected. There is a fitness room and other amenities, but I was there just to sleep overnight, so I can’t comment on those other features. I am an older, single woman and felt very safe and comfortable. Can’t ask for more!

It looks like this place was recently renovated - at least the areas I saw, as well as my room. The room reno was basically a job of putting lipstick on a pig, but the room was clean and the bathroom was in great shape. The door to the room would stick, and it needed to be slammed in order to fully close. The elevator closest to my room was out of order, leaving only one functioning elevator in the rear of the building for the entire property. The pool area was decent however the pool had a lot of leaves both sitting at the bottom of it as well as floating on it. McDonald's is right next door, and a sketchy gas station / convenience store is within a minutes walk in case you get the urge to buy single bottles or cans of beer and some Phillies. There is breakfast in the morning but there wasn't anything hot available (trays were empty) and I was stuck with having a yogurt and nothing else since I avoid breads. I actually booked this hotel by mistake - I saw "Ft Lauderdale Airport" not knowing there were two airports. This was next to the smaller of the two airports, which basically had a lot of executive and charter flights. There was a lot of activity coming and going at the airport but I don't mind watching the planes. Because of the location of this hotel, it is a much longer and costlier uber / lyft ride to Port Everglades.
