Friendly staff, very attentive to needs/requests. No elevator, so lugging luggage up and down the stairs was inconvenient.

We had also made arrangements with Leasha at County Inn, but canceled after being told that Days was under new management. I had asked and reserved a down stairs kitchenette with a king size bed and was promised that we could depend on the reservation. After being sent to four different rooms ( one which appeared to be occupied I called Verna at Country Inn. Outstanding customer service and a blessing at 1:30 AM!

Stayed at Country Inn June 20 and 21, 2023. Stayed there previously, with satisfactory accommodations. On this occasion we had a significant issue; may even say an “itchy” problem that kept on giving well past our stay. Room 214; shared the room with bed bugs. Bed bugs are not always a direct result of unsanitary conditions or poor cleaning. As stated in the HuffPost, “Even nice hotels can get bed bugs.” However bed bugs are nasty and difficult to eliminate. Easy to transmit to home. I did call the inn on day of check out to report it. The inn representative apologized; she was pleasant and courteous, but it did not eliminate the bites, discomfort and it drastically changed our subsequent travel plans and tripled the cost of lodging for our trip. To insure that we did not spread or carry the bed bugs into the homes of family and friends, we stayed in hotels for the next 4 nights. ($$$$) We notified Country Inn management so they could eliminate the infestation and save other hotel guests from having a similar experience. And we asked for some consideration of our unexpected, not-budgeted expenses, such as some reimbursement or credit/certificate for four nights lodging at Choice Hotel* or Country Inn and Suites. (*We were told at check in that Fort Dodge Country Inn and Suites was now a Choice Hotel property. Does Choice Hotels want to put its name on a property with bed bugs?) Property Management denied the presence of bed bugs. No apology. No credit and no reimbursement. We will not be staying there ever again. Please stay away.

Rooms need professional cleaning. Bedding dirty, worn, and old. Bathroom dated. No safety bars. Toilet seat low and not secure. Fitness center not open. Security concerns, window screens torn and pulling away from the windows.

Property is being renovated but isn’t clean in many places. We booked a suite and there was a strong chemical smell when we entered the room, the kitchenette was not stocked with anything, the sink was filthy with dried on food, the toilet seat was old and had cracks, there was no phone in the room, no iron, or hair dryer. The first night I went to the front desk to talk about the odor and the dirty sink. The girl at the desk wrote things down and said to talk to the manager the next day which I did. She was pleasant and did have an air purifier put in the room for a time which didn’t take care of the problem. We would have left but other hotels were booked. The breakfast was standard and the bed was comfortable on a better note.

Would not recommend staying. Back home for my dad’s funeral for 5 nights and wish we had left. The staff are accommodating and friendly. The hotel is in the process of remodeling. Bathrooms need attention and updates. We wanted to use the pool and unable due to being out of service. Once it was opened the chemicals were so strong my eyes and throat burned. We checked every day and was not able to go into the area. Pools should never have chemical odor if it does the treatment is not properly applied. Will not stay again. Bill over $500.00 and not having the one thing we wanted to enjoy after stressful days
