My husband, 2 children (aged 9 and 5), and I have just returned from a week at Club Maryland, and we had the best time. I'll start with the cons first as nowhere is perfect! There is a long transfer from Ibiza airport to the hotel. The bus journey from the airport takes around 10 mins, then a 40 minute ferry transfer (not including wait times for the ferry) and then another coach trip which took around 30 minutes with various drop offs. We had early flights (7am going out and 12pm coming home), so they were long travel days. Also, bear in mind that you're not on Ibiza mainland, and if you want to visit, you will have you use the ferry. We never felt the need to go, but I priced it up for a family of 4, and it was around £100 so it's not cheap! The hotel is set in a pine forest and on a hill. In order to get too/from the main dining hall/main bar/main pool/entertainment area, you need to navigate a very steep hill. Not so bad on the way down (I say this as a relatively fit and healthy person), but the walk back up left me breathless! It's not great for those with limited mobility, and unfortunately, there's no other access, so do bear this is mind if you may struggle. The rooms are dated and are traditional Spanish style. There is also no air-conditioning, as others have mentioned. This didn't bother us as we went in mild weather, but I imagine in the height of summer some will struggle. There are ceiling fans which felt quite powerful when we tried them. The sofabeds are also not very comfy. My children had the bedroom and my husband and I had the sofa beds in the living room. The first night wasn't a great sleep, but after this we got used to it. As we only used the apartment to sleep/shower the outdated style wasn't a deal breaker for us and it was perfectly adequate for our needs. Now for the good! The staff absolutely make this place. Everyone was so polite and friendly and nothing ever felt like any trouble. I have so much admiration for how well the staff speak other languages and were able to communicate with everyone! I have to give a massive shout out to the entertainment team, particularly Martina and Simon. My youngest daughter is autistic and became very fond of Martina and followed her around everywhere. Martina was so patient and kind with her and really made her feel special. She even came and saw us at 7:30am the morning we left, so she could say goodbye to my daughter, knowing how much she would miss her. This little touch was so kind and will never be forgetten! The pools are brilliant. We spent a lot of time at the main pool and the splash pool. We went in low season so never struggled to find a sunbed but even in peak season, I don't think this would be a struggle as there were plenty of beds. The food and drinks options were very good. We never went hungry and there was always lots of fresh cooked foods for lunch and dinner. There was a lot of fish and meats as well as salads, pasta, chips, breads, soups, potatoe
