Roebuck by Greene King Inns

Met up here with family members as it was a convenient mid point for everyone for an overnight stay to catch up with family. (3 couples ) We booked directly with the Hotel on a DBB basis and it was excellent value for money for the room, breakfast and a 3 course evening meal Positives - very friendly accommodating small team of staff Lovely friendly atmosphere in the bar at lunchtime - we had a small bar snack which was lovely and well cooked Very reasonably priced drinks Excellent evening meal - this was a shortened version of their A la Carte menu and was 3 courses included in the price of the stay - food was beautifully cooked, hot, tasty and an imaginative menu Comfy bar for after dinner drinks Very attractive xmas decorations ! Very comfortable bed, hot shower and nice white fluffy towels Breakfast - lovely selection of continental options ready laid out for when you come down and excellent options of cooked items (avocado, poached eggs on sourdough with seeds) full english etc which was all cooked to order. Good quality produce. Excellent nights sleep Plenty of free parking Lovely character building with lots of history Large gardens which would be nice in the summer Negatives - as others have said the hotel corridors/other areas are very much in need of redecoration and probably some bathroom upgrades in places and new carpets . Our bathroom sink had a crack in it, but it certainly didn't detract from the enjoyment of our stay. Small selection of tea, coffee etc, but could have done with a tray to put the cups on so that they didn't mark or drip onto the desk/table top. Breakfast was only till 9am, so could have done with an extra 30 minutes but it wasn't a problem. would we return - yes most definately!!

A lovely country pub hotel Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I couldnt fault them. The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren to find the room but still full of charm. Will be back

It was ok Staff was very attentive to our needs. We only ate breakfast there; it was very good. Our room was clean. However, the room was terribly out of date. There were stains on our carpet (carpet needs removed completely). The room was musty. And being a bit warm, it was difficult to air out and cool the room at night as leaving the windows open let in bugs. I would probably stay again given the location and price but I would look very hard elsewhere first.
