High Force Hotel

Beautiful surroundings in this historic building, classic dining areas and sumptuous menu. The hazelnut crusted halibut did not disappoint and the accompanying tomato medley was a great balance. Served by George, who was efficient,friendly and attentive we had a very pleasant evening and I, for one, will definitely be returning to try lunch next time. Sorry, I forgot to take photos, my attention was distracted by the surroundings. Next time 😉.

Fantastic place with friendly professional staff, lovely food, excellent service, spacious clean room with comfortable bed, I can’t speak highly enough of this hotel, we will definitely be back! Oh and the beer is great as well!! What more is there to say

Myself and my wife arrived on Friday afternoon, slightly earlier than the check in time. We were greeted by friendly staff and offered a drink whilst we waited until we could check into our room (which was a compact double). We were not booked in for tea that evening, but was able to book a table no problem at all. Once we were able to book into our room we found it small but nothing less than we required for the 2 nights we were going to stay. The only downsides to the room were the lack of storage, if you wished to unpack. And the plug in the shower cubicle wasn't draining correctly and allowed the water to back up into the tray whilst you showered. Just an inconvenience to be honest. Upon going downstairs to eat, we found the dining room to be really nice, well presented and open, with plenty of room. Though we did go at a quiet time as there were only the two of us in there. We found the food really REALLY nice, but very expensive. Though i dont necessarily mind paying a little bit more if it is good food. The Rib Eye steak was perfection and cooked really well, as was the mushroom and spinach bake for starters. My wife enjoyed the Tomato soup and Burger. The onion rings were perfect too. The following day we ate there again. This time we had the Lamb Rogan Josh and my wife had a range of starters instead of a main meal. All of which were delicious. I was very impressed with the Lamb Rogan Josh. The same quality was also received when we had breakfast. On both evenings we were able to relax on the sofa and enjoy a drink (or two). Though for a Friday and Saturday evenings, we found the whole pub rather quiet. Not that that bothered us so much to be honest. On all interactions, the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful no complaints what-so-ever. Overall, although expensive we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would (will) visit here again at some point in the future.

I'm usually a little suspicious of tourist attraction hotels, but the consistently excellent reviews on here are for a good reason. Spotless room, excellent service, lovely food. WiFi a bit patchy, but there is 4G so no real issue. 100% recommended.

After a 28km leg coming South on the Pennine Way the welcome at the High Force Hotel was just what was needed. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, finding us a place to dry our wet boots and socks. Food was lovely, spot on, after a long day walking and the the rooms clean and comfortable. Perhaps a little more expensive than other places but worth every penny for me. Would be delighted to stay there again and re-visit the Waterfall.

A surprise birthday treat I booked for my husband. The staff were in on the surprise and really made sure we had a great time. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, very tasty. Staff were young but very helpful and all knew their role. Would definitely go back.
