This is the second time I have stayed at an Embassy Suites in the past year. This one was not worth the $250+ per night price tag. The other was questionable but was pretty much new so it was. Tells me the brand is inconsistent at best. The room was showing significant signs of wear. Carpet needed stretched due to several lumps in it. The wet bar had a subpar caulking job done in white when it is a dark color countertop. The mattress pad on the pull out sofa had multiple stains on it like that it is never changed. Every piece of furniture in the room looked not just tired but exhausted. Pros: Room was reasonably clean. It looked like the housekeeper did their job. Another pro: despite the mattress being about 9"thick and a spring mattress, I slept fine --- unlike many hotel beds. Staff was also friendly, had personality, and were helpful in the breakfast area and front desk. There was also a cool wireless phone charger in the room. Even though I didn't bring a charger in it worked on my iPhone! What I can't look past is how filthy the exterior of the room windows were and the indoor pool area and the general hallway areas by the pool were on the 1st floor. Do they never get window washers? Because I just had come from the penthouse of a 10 story hotel with gleaming clean windows. It really added to my stay. And I paid half the price per night for that hotel! I didn't even see a speck of dust in that hotel. Same cannot be said for this stay. We really liked the ambiance of the main conversation area. But the broken/missing tiles near the water feature caught my eye more than the beauty.

Overall our stay here was good. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff was friendly. The only marks against this location were the climate control and breakfast. Our room was HOT. We didn’t mention it to staff when checking in because we assumed it had been set high when unoccupied. However, by the time we went to bed it had not changed. And by that point it was late and we had unpacked enough that moving rooms would have been a major hassle. At around 2am it finally had cooled down to a comfortable level. And that was with us setting the thermostat in the mid 50s. The only other ‘complaint’ we had was about breakfast. It is a huge spread with lots of options. However, food quality was noticeably lower than at other places we have stayed. Not a major concern perhaps but it was noticeable and may be something for a potential customer to consider. Even the coffee was weak. These comments aside, our stay here was fine. This hotel had some of the friendliest staff we have experienced in a while. The location was great and the bed was comfortable.
